Horses

My wife is wanting to get some horses....has anyone pulled horses with their 4runner? I have a v6 SR5 and I am not sure exactly what upgrades if any I would need. Thanks.

Evan

Not sure how #s your trailer/horse set up would be but I think 5000# is the max load for our 4runners. Most peole also recommend a trans cooler when someone asks about towing so...

how many horses? our tow limit is 5000k lbs. most don't even try towing that much.
You will want a tranny cooler, hitch equalizer, and a trailer with breaks.
what does the trailer weigh?what does the horse weigh? how many horses? what kind of terrain will you be towing through?

My wife wants 2, my father has a couple and the average weight of his horses are 1000lbs. I'm not sure what the weight of a 2 horse trailer will be.

If it's going to be 4000lbs or less AND if you won't be pulling that often, I'd go ahead and get the transmission cooler, and trailer brake set up.

However, if this will be a regular towing vehicle, I would get a V8 Tundra instead.
