Help me fix up a 99 4Runner - 125k miles

I have a 4 cylinder, 2WD, 1999 4Runner that I want to improve. Great body, great interior and I love how it runs. BUT, it now has 125k miles, it's 9 years old, and I need a few things but I also want your opinions on what I should do with it.

I know it needs:

timing belt
new belts
new hoses
new wiring and spark plugs

If YOU were going to do this, what would you want to use and is there anything else I should look at?

Also, I use full synthetic oils (about 4 oil changes so far).

Help me! I'm new at this! I do not off-road, I'm a 36 year old Dad, and want another 125k miles on this truck and would love anything that would give me a noticeable improvement.

It has a timing chain not a belt, If it's not making any noise it doesn't need replaced. But a tune up and replacing hoses and belts is not a bad idea.

I answered this on your other thread, but didn't know you had a 4-cyl. Yeah, you've got a chain, so no worries there. And like I said before, I'd use all OEM stuff for the other items you listed. A bit more expensive, but if it will last another 125k, you can't complain, right?

You might also be looking at new suspension, too. If you're not looking to do any off-roading, you can get something like Monroe Sensatracs. People have said it improved their ride quality on the pavement.

I have Monroe sensatracs, and the step up was pretty minimal from stock in terms of ride quality. got mine changed at 120K

You should spend your money elsewhere first on maintenance. When everything is taken care then go for the suspension.

Good info. I just replaced the rotors, tires, brake shoes, front right hub and got an alignment. Drives like it's brand new.
