3.4L Hard to find?

Hi

I am looking to buy a 4runner and I've been noticing it is AMAZINGLY hard to find a Manual 3.4L 4Runner on any of the major used car websites and even craigslist.

Why is this? Are they really that rare?

Also, how much of a difference does the 3.4L make over a 3.0L ?

Thanks,
-RuSty420

I tried looking for a 3.4L manual and had to settle for the auto. From my experience in Indiana, a 3.4L manual is pretty hard to come by. Good Luck in your search.

i just bought my 97 about 2 weeks ago. i had a hell of a time finding a 4runner. i used craigslist too. i knew every 4runner within 100 miles of me from all the used car websites. i kept missing them by like a day. it was real hard to find it. i actually found mine by accident. a friend told me about a used car dealer and that they usually have a decent amount of vehicles in their lot. i went to their website and i found this 4runner there. it wasn't on the web anywhere except for their site.

keep at it. you'll stumble across one.

When I started looking for a 4Runner in 2000, there were no stick shifts on the lot. I talked to the dealer. They just don't order stick shifts because of the demand. They also don't order 4Runners with non-powered windows. No demand for them. Also, it is very hard to special order a Toyota. I have not seen a stick shift, so they are out there, but "rare" is the key word.

I really like the second generation 4Runner, but I think the 3.0 V6 is the weak link to the design. They tend to be thirsty. Blown Head gaskets still happen.

The 3.4 is a sweet engine. Good power, runs smoothly and gets decent mileage. And I have seen some with high mileage, i.e. over 300,000 miles.
