Question New 4runner owner with a question

Hi, First off this site is awesome. I purchased my first 4runner a 2000 SR5 with 88,000k about 3 1/2 months ago. Previously I had a Jeep which ran really well but was totalled. Anyway, my 4runner is a dream and awesome in everyway except one way.

When I drive anywhere and stop but still in drive such as at stop lights, stop and go traffic and stop signs there is a weird vibration felt throughout the vehicle almost like a straining vibration but the engine is not straining. However, the vibration would stop once I started to accelerate or put the vehicle into park. The car still ran great otherwise, so I finally took it to a local pep boys to be looked at and they noticed the vibration but said its probably trasmission or transfer case and told me to bring to a transmission place. The transmission place said it wasn't the transmission or case and that it is probably a mount issue but they aren't sure.

Does anyone have any experience or information on this? I would greatly appreciate it because the vibration can really bug me at times and I want to make sure it isn't anything serious. Thank you in advance

Problem #1 you took it to Pep Boys. They don't know their ass from a hole in the wall. Is this like an idling issue under load? Has the MAF been cleaned? Spark plugs changed? Is it throwing any codes?

I'm having the same issue and I've replaced my plugs and wires but still have to clean the MAF sensor.

+1 on "BTLFED"'s post. Clean your MAF and ensure you don't need a tune-up.
