I vote for 2in, for the looks and for off roading should you ever get the urge.

Agreed, better to be over prepared than not prepared if you someday decide to offroad. Plus the 2in. will look better and beefier (and not cheap) as techno said.

Well, I finally picked up the 2 in tubing yesterday. I ordered and paid for 3/16 over the phone . When I got it, they had made a mistake and cut the pieces out of 1/4 in. They only charged me for 3/16 , so I got a great deal. The only drawback is they will be a little heavy...but they sure will be strong !!! I hope to start welding them up this weekend. Ill be posting photos of updates

I'm more partial to the round sleeker look since those large ones look to bulky and heavy and if you aren't going off road they look a bit much.

Well, I went with 2 inch because as someone said, they will look beefier, plus, since I wont have running boards, it can be used as a step for folks (like my Mom ) for climbing in. On top of that, it could be use for jacking up if I get a flat , but I do respect your feelings. As the old saying , "to each their own". Thats whats fun about moding out a 4R , you can "have it your way"

Ron,
Those photos are of my sliders. I feel so flattered!!

It is 2" square bar. They are still doing very well. I had to do my first touch up paint last week, but it was no big deal.

Let me know if I can help you with the design. I can take more photos, measure things...whatever you need. -Tyler

Thanks for the compliments Ron. I kind of designed them, I did the same thing as you did...I searched the internet until I found what I liked. I ended up liking a few different aspects of a few different sliders, so I combined them and this is what I came up with. My only recommendation would be to either make the rear kick out farther back (closer to the rear tire), or don't make it at all. It's really an inconvenience for people getting in and out of the back seat. They hit the back of your legs, and will get pants dirty, and can leave a bruise if hit hard enough.

I hadn't noticed this, until my mother-in-law got a big dirt mark on the back of her white pants when she was getting out of the car at church! Ooops. I will take some measurements, and see if I can modify the placement of that kick out to make it perfect. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing about them. They are SO stout!

I won't be needing any credit either. I just wanted to make sure you knew you could come to me for some measurements and help. If any credit is due, it's to FabWerks. My buddy runs this small business out of his garage, he made the sliders for me. I can't weld...nor do I have any practical knowledge of building anything out of metal.

I will work on those measurements tonight.

Ron,
I'm digging this thread out of the old stuff to find out if you ever got your sliders done?

What's the update!?!?
