strut compressor vs. spring compressor

Hey all, today is the day that i install the lift!!! Question tho... would it be better to use a strut compressor, which fits on the outside of the spring, or a spring compressor, should i get both? They are free after return! Also should I get the impact wrench while i'm there? would it need special sockets?

Actually, I'm not at home, I'm at the fire station where I volunteer if you must know. Snippy comments like that will get you nowhere since no-one is obligated to reply to anything on here.
Get a strut spring compressor if your still undecided since the front set up is a strut. And impact wrench sockets? How the hell would we know what something you have not even got from somewhere we don't even know uses?

I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to cause any trouble here, just a bit of light hearted banter, I didn't mean literally at home, just, you know, at home on this forum. I'm always more than grateful for the help i get on this forum, if I offended you I am truly sorry.

Not yet... one side of me told me, "go ahead and put in the lift!!" But the other side told me i should get my tools in order and wait until i am organized, so with much restraint i'm going to wait and put it in over the next few days after work, since the weather is nice i'll be riding my bike!

Get the spring compressor...

Here's the link to my write up on lifting my '97 Runner.

http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showth...threadid=36854

You won't really need both to do this job.

Also, keep an eye on your cv boots. You may want to replace those while you have the front end apart. I ended up replacing mine today...after the lift, my inner boots tore.

Aloha!
