Im getting ready to lift my 99 4runner and get a set of wheels and tires. With a 3" OME lift, would a set of 265/75s on a set of 16x8 wheels look to small. I'd like 285s but can't sacrifice the gas mileage right now.

I dont think they would look too small. I had 265's with a 2.5" lift for a while and i didn't think they looked to bad. I also have the limited fenders which are bigger, and i think it looked fine with the 265's. I think it would look better with SR5 flares though. I also had 265's with a 4" lift for a day or so before i got my 285's.

2.5" lift with 265's

4" lift with 265's

4" with 285's

Personally I think it would look much better with the 285's

If you can't sacrifice MPGs then don't get 285s and limit your lift to 2.5" to restrict strain on the CVs.

I also notice MPGs are affected the higher it's lifted in part due to making your profile taller and more air turbulence under the truck plus the wider profile of the tires is hindering things a little at highway speeds.

Depends...are your present 99 springs the tall springs or not?

I had the 99 short springs and gained 3" in the rear going to Old Man Emu 891 coils
and just 1" in front with Old Man Emu 881.

This gives my ride a stinkbug look with the rear higher than the front-but that is what I wanted. You may not.....

Yeah there the taller coils but they're definately starting to sag and ride a little rough so i figured i would replace them with a little taller coil. I definately want it to sit level and all i want to clear are 265/75r16s on an 8" wide wheel. Just a small lift without a lot of CV strain. Y'all think the Toytec OME kit would have me sitting level with 2" rear coils and the front coils without the 3/4" top plate?
