Ok so here is the deal. My 4Runner desperately needs new brakes (rotors and pads). I need to put rotors and pads on this thing for cheap. I don't have a lot of extra money for maintenance right now so I do what I can myself. I just need to know if anyone knows of a good place to get rotors for a good price. I checked ebay but all they have really is slotted and cross-drilled crap and I don't need all that. I will check the dealership (I get employee discount) and also all of the local auto parts stores, but just wondering if there was a place online where I could score some for a good deal. Thanks.

The only mechanic in my town that I trust with my baby is the dealership. They have never done me wrong. It will be pricey though.

I will be doing the work myself, so that's not an issue. Just need to know if there is a cheaper place to buy the parts.

Auto Parts Warehouse for plain jane Brembo rotors that I am running now on my 99.

Not drilled or slotted-just normal replacement rotors with the Brembo name.

They always have some sort of coupon deal going-and free freight if ordering over $100. I believe mine were like $110 or so.Tire Rack carries them also, maybe $5 more.

I know several folks on here have recommended Auto Zone or some other large chain store, they have warranties if you would rather swap rotors than have them turned.

You are not asking about the pads but I am going to recommend the 4Runner upgrade pads at the dealership.

Not the stock replacements-the upgrade pads. I can get a part number if you need it.

The combo of the Brembo rotors and the upgrade pads has made my stopping power improve. I can get a solid bite now right before the ABS kicks in while braking. Before, stopping was just kind of a gradual slowing process.

whats the part number for the upgraded pads? i assume its the same for an 00. would you recommend the brembo's over OEM?

can not find the part number via search to save my life- I have it at home from the purchase-will get it and post it up.

I would not assume it would necessarily fit-always verify with your friendly dealership and they should be able to provide part numbers for both the stock pads and the upgrade pads.

The Brembo rotors were cheaper than a stock replacement and yes I would recommend them.

#04465-35240 is the upgrade pad part number to fit my 99. Found it whew.

25488 is what I have as the Brembo rotor part number.

What you want is regular vented blank rotors. You can either get the regular 4Runner rotors or go Tundra. From your financial standpoint, go with AutoZone rotors, since they have a 2 year warranty. Warping, cracking, whatever--just take them back and they'll give you new ones. Same with their ceramic pads. Lifetime warranty, even just regular wear. Take them back and they give you new ones. I personally went this route, because even if Brembo or OEM rotors are cheaper (which they weren't when I checked), if they warp, you're out another $100 or so, whereas the Autozone rotors, you are protected for at least 2 years and with the pads, lifetime.

When I did mine last year, it was ~$55 per rotor? And $40 for the ceramic pads at Autozone. Oh, remember, they have a buy $20 or more 5 times and get a $20 credit. But what they don't tell you is that you don't get a credit for 5 $20 purchases at one time or even on the same day. You have to buy them on a separate day. So what I would do is buy them one at a time. Then two more purchases and you've got $20 extra dollars.

Thanks for the info and part #'s I'm gonna go with the same brembo rotors, but have a question about pads. Why did you go with stock upgraded pads? Is it better performance/life/price than ...say EBC or other brand pads?
Also, how much work is involved to change the rotors and pads. Any special tools required? I'd like to do this myself. Got basic tools and some knowledge

Just heard about the stock upgrade pads from a Yota Tech or T4R forum member. Very close in price to the EBC and seemed to resemble them as well. Yes -they are the upgrade pads from Toyota themselves-so I believe they do have better performance and lifespan. Increase in cost was minimal and I was just looking for a good combo with the new Brembo rotors.

I don't do my own brakes-I don't trust myself. My Runner is my only driver-so when it is down I am walking or biking. To me it is well worth a few dollars to have a professional install the pieces I provide. My cost was $70 for labor to install fronts and check the rear drums over and any adjustments. I love those guys at IRBIS OFF ROAD 'cause they take care of me and my ride-feel very fortunate to have met them.

I bought front rotors for $20 last year! (now $29 for trucks w/16in wheels). Good quality, no problems for 20k+ so far.
They also sell the brembos. Also most of the stuff is OEM but unbranded. I buy often from this site, because good prices, free shipping over $50 and no tax. Gets to my house in 1-2 days.
