puddle then batt light ..
Hey gang..
Just wondering... I had some water splash up(more than normal) went to eat, then noticed the batt light on/off. about 1 hr later same thing.. only this time at Lower rpm's (traffic lights) then i decided to go home because i did not want to get stuck. highway speeds the light was again flickering along with the head, tail lights all doing the same thing. I have a appt at the dealership for another issue.. what do you think they will find wrong with the charging system?.. if this was the OLDER days i'd wait for everything to dry out.. I fear this might be more than drying a few wires.. i felt the battery it did not feel hot.. regulator? Alternator? maybe it IS just a dry out?

look for a shop that does rebuilds on them, the dealer will want a good amount of money for it (usually around $400 for most of the ones i have priced) and the ones from the local auto parts stores, like most of their parts are junk and not worth buying.

You should be able to get a High Output Alternator for cheaper than $400.

Hey you guys...
yep it was the alternator. the dealship had to order me one.$280. i assume that it's the stock current and not a high output.. to tell you the truth i did not think of a HO model... then 2 hrs to install it... i'll be out just under $500 i was told.. with some discounts.. i might ad a transmission flush too... it's never been done.

Ouch. You could have probably picked up a HO alt for that, but it's done now.
Hope things work out.

thanks for the reply,
I called the dealership after you wrote me last. they don't know anything about a HO alternator. The highest model they have is an 70 amp unit. where would some one go for a ho unit? is it needed? is there a chance of over charging tha battery? Btw the battert is fine just the alternator is shot. I do have 2 amps and i do run after mkt PIAA'S.Long ago I did notice that the lights would dim slightly under load but never enough to make the batt lite come on .

There are a few companies that make HO alts. A couple are Iraggi and EA. The dealership would not know about them.
I wouldn't worry about it though. The stock one should do just fine.
I would only get a HO one if you plan to run a lot of car audio equipment or other things that draw a lot of amps.
