4runner cargo room

So I currently drive a 2001 Toyota Rav4 that my mom used to drive. (I'm 17). I don't like it at all- it's very small, feels like plastic, and looks girly.

I want to buy a 2000 4runner limited. What I am wondering is how much cargo space do these have? I haul a lot of stuff at times, like mountain bikes to DJ equipment (big speakers).

I've heard 4runners have the biggest cargo space out of any SUV. I would put the seats down. How is it compared to an Explorer?

Thanks!

I am not sure how they would compare, but you can compare them at www.edmunds.com.

4runners are not even close to having the most cargo room. I know that our Surburban has a lot more room than my 4runner and probably the 4th Gen 4runner, and it's not even the biggest SUV. I would say the Excursion has the most. I belived they stopped making them though.

I think that a 3rd Gen 4runner would have more room than an Explorer though. Didn't they make Explorers with two and four doors?

Oh yeah forgot about those cars. Well basically I need something that is cool looking with a lot of room, and I think 4runners pull that off very well.

Under those conditions I would take the 4runner over the Explorer all day. If you add about $1,000 you can have a really good looking 4runner.

Bikes don't fit very well in the back. Mine has a quick-release front wheel and it goes in alright, but getting my fiances bike in without disassembling it is not fun at all.

You can pick up a hitch mount bike carrier for pretty cheap though and I think your speakers should fit ok. I am always pretty impressed with the cargo room, but I always seem to find something that won't fit too. But I agree with above that the 4Runner seems like a good choice for your criteria and is like 400,013x cooler than a explorer.

I just bought one this morning for deer hunting. Paid $70 for it and its big enough for speakers, 3 or 4 coolers, etc and has a 500lb weight limit.

Heres a link to what it looks like. Havent had a chance to try it out yet but im 230 lbs and it held me just fine in the middle. Could be a little heavier duty but for carrying game out of the woods itll work fine for me.
