can someone give me a little bit more info on these flares?

Well, I am looking for a set of flares right now and I found a set locally. They are the ones with the chrome bit on them and they're rather small.

Just a few questions

1. Do they mount on the inside of the fender so I dont have to cut holes?

2. What would you expect to pay for them? I found a guy selling for $50 but that seems a bit much... I am thinking to offer $30.

3. Will they seamlessly fit my '99?

The flares look like this:

These are not really flares since they are extremely narrow, more just trimming than anything else. They fit well and do not drill into the outside. Here is the style of fastener they use, the pic is of the front drivers trim facing forward.

I see, that works.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.

I would recomend not buying that style, as was said above they are not flares, just decorative trim. I had those on my 00 w/ the 265/70 tire combo and they did nothing to protect the side of my truck, if you looked closely there were hundreds of tiny dings where rocks and salt had been getting thrown into my truck, those little trim pieces just don't stick out as far as the tires, so they do nothing. If you want them for looks go for it, but if you want a real flare either find the old black SR5 style or the larger Limited/Sport style. I have the sport flares on my 02 and there are no dings like on my 00, so the larger flares actually work. You could also look aftermarket like Bushwhacker, expensive but worth it IMO.

Well... I have been wanting those black ones...

I suppose once I find a set of those I'll get them, but since these are cheap, I might just get them now just for looks. Really, anything there is better than nothing.

Thanks for the feedback.

pat161 has it right

pat161 has it exactly right-unless you are going for the chrome look I would save your money for real flares.

I have this chrome trim myself and it is useless except as a "pretty" trim piece over each wheel well.

These trim pieces are part of the reason I must run front mudflaps-otherwise I get all sorts of spray down the sides of the body if I encounter moisture on the roads.
