Doug Thorley Headers w/ or w/o EGR?

What is the difference in the headers for 4runners with EGR system and without? Does this have something to do with California cars that have an extra system?

Any info on these headers and what the difference is would be helpful. Which, if any, of these will work on my 97? I know all about the performance and install discussion and don't plan on getting them until my SC.

Without

My car is not from California either if that does play a role. Thanks

You want the headers without EGR. 4runners don't have an EGR and I'm pretty sure that applies to both cali and the rest.

I am just confused because I remember seeing a group buy a while back and they had everyones order listed.

They had everyones year, # of cats and EGR or not. I remember seeing some 4Runners from all years that had EGR and some that didn't.

I don't remember if it correllates with the number of cats or not either. Can anyone else help clear this up?

To my knowledge...97+ 5vz-fe 4runners never had an EGR valve. The 3rz did though.

My understanding is that no 3rd gen with a 3.4L has an EGR. The 4bangers might though I don't know.

pop the hood and have a look around, It will be something like a small tube coming from the exhaust to the intake area, a 3rz I rebuilt had it and that's pretty much all it was. I pulled a 3.4 from a 98 and can tell you there was not EGR but I don't know it it was the same for all third gens.
