I have always went with Napa Gold filters the golds are manufactured by WIX
and if your one to run a bigger capacity filter they hold a lot more. As for oil I have never tried amsoil but will

So what your telling me is all filters manufactured by wix are all the same? Napa farms out the filters at a certain tolerence, because this is how much they want to spend, just because it is made by wix does not mean it is their top of the line filter.

He didn't say that at all. He said that NAPA Gold filters are made by Wix.

The Napa Gold 1516 is a rebranded Wix 51516. That is not top of either line but they ARE the same. NAPA has their Platinum line, also made by Wix. Wix has their corresponding XP line.

Has this turned into a flame war yet?

I'm running full synthetic 5W30 Mobil1 (or similar) with WIX 51348XP (or similar) filter

20w50?

So, I just got my first 4Runner, a 1999 from my dad's estate, he passed and left a few vehicles behind.
I noticed a service sticker on the windshield that said it was being filled with 20W50 oil. Is there any legitimate reason to use this weight oil in our trucks?

None.
20w-50 is too heavy for our 3.4L. This would cause deminished gas mileage too.
Who am I to say what's right or wrong. Run what you see fit, it's your truck.

I use whatever oil and filter the stealership uses. Never had an issue.

Not to mention starving the topend of oil possibly.

So, here we are in 2020 and I'm about to use switch up to synthetic. The previous owner used full dinosaur up til now. I have replaced the valve cover gaskets, so what's there to lose?
