$28k
Brand new back in Dec 2000 ('01 model). Truck has been perfect all the way up through 125k mi. My wife still loves it and will happily keep it to 200k.
I'm getting tired of the tired ride and all the wiggly/jiggly though.

22.5K
$24,000 with taxes. My 01 is a 2WD, it didn't even have running boards, I had to put some on. I looked in 2000 and my V6 01 was cheaper than a 2000 base model 4 cyl. The Highlander help bring the price down a bit in 01.
Your prices of used ones is killing me. Of course I bought a used 04 two months ago for $12,000 and it had 41,000 miles. Of course it is a 4th and this is a 3rd gen. forum.
You guys have got some good deals on the 3rd gen.

I think my parents dropped a bit more than $36k for it back in 2001

I have the same truck minus 6disc changer radio. 96' limited, bought it in June of 07 w/211k on the clock, paid $4000. The truck hadn't seen dirt until I bought it, so it was in near immaculate shape. Good deal, I think. I plan on keeping the truck for a long time.

Got my MINT 99 for 10k out the door from a Toyota dealer almost a year ago.
61k miles before I took delivery they installed.
New rear bumper-chrome was flakey
Battery
Full tune up
Starter
Belts
with the 30 day warranty they replaced
cats
02 sensors
power antenna
Since I bought it from this particular dealer I get a loaner car [a prius] as long as I own the truck. They will pick my truck up within 75 miles of the dealership and leave me with a prius. Even if it is just for an oil change.

Dunno, but that's me - something about my wife driving my little girl around in a car with >200k miles doesn't sit right. Ego maybe?
Of course with her at home these days she's only putting ~8k miles/year on the thing, so that's what, another 9 years? hahaha

97 Limited w/RR Locker 155k $6000 2 weeks ago.
The "issues":
Driver seat needs some work.
A couple of minor scratches.
Possible minor rust issues. It was first sold in Minnesota and lived there for two years.
The day after I got I drove it from Fayetteville, AR to Nashville and the next day from Nashville to Daytona Beach. No issues.

$32,955.14 on June 29, 1999 for my manual '99 SR5. She's been DD for 110K and still going strong. Clock is dead, clutch exploded at 90K, and changed battery at seven years. Otherwise trouble free. I did first and 30K at dealer, otherwise all maintenance by me. Price is all in--value of check I wrote to drive out the door per Quicken search. Got the call a manual came in, closed over the phone and picked up and paid the following day. It was the color I wanted, too--Imperial Jade Green.
The '97Hilux I bought in Brazil was almost $50K due to import duties, but I don't have the records. Like all Brazilian dealers, they give you just enough gas to get to a station. Very annoying. Ex-wife still has it with about 260k km on it. Excellent machine.

$5000 for my '97 Limited in April '08. 135K on it. Needed 2 tires and I recently changed the rear shocks. All in all, I'm very happy with it.
