Bought my 230 k mile 2000 5speed with a locker four years ago for $5500. Was told had too many miles. Ive seen the similar trucks going for around triple what I paid.

Funny how that is, people just have a set number in their heat for "too high mileage" then get all worried and dont trust the car so they sell.

I paid $10,000 for my 2002 with 145k miles on it 10 years ago. Now the 4runner has 265k miles and running like a champ.

Paid $3500 for my 08 Prius with 232k miles and people said the same thing about too high mileage. Its been 2 year now and its got 265k miles and Id drive it accross country right now if I needed too. Gotta love Toyota

Cool

Just bought an 02! Lady who knew nothing about cars was dumping money into it and getting ripped off so wanted to get rid of it. How do i know this? The amount of work ive done to it and need to do to it…. Has 284k on the clock currently. Working on getting it ready to pass state inspection (stupid). I started with trying to clear the check engine light. Knock sensor and lean condition code (isolated to a vacuum leak). Ive replaced both knock sensors, cleaned out the intake, done valve cover gaskets, pcv, hose, spark plugs, oil change (to be done again since i got crap in intake). Currently hung up on the valve covers. I keep cracking the dang drivers side one closest to the alternator. Ive been through the original cover and now a new one! The first one was my fault. I went gorilla on it so no surprise it broke, but the second one got torqued correctly and just as i turned it to make sure it was at the right torque it cracked again. If the dealer wont take the cracked one back, ill have to hunt around for another used one, since a new cover from the stealership was 400 dollarz. I dont even have the engine back together yet and im also looking at a rusted rear diff thats leaking, new tires because one has a cut to the cords in it, and new shocks because the ones the lady put on were completely overtorqued and the bushings are bulging out! What have i gotten myself into lol. The good thing is i only paid 4300 for the truck. Im about 3k into it at this point. If anyone has a spare driver side valve cover let me know… im currently in need of one.

Hi all. New prospective owner here. Taking a peek at one today.. trying to move on from my F-150 that got totaled a few months ago.

2000 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4WD - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle...

Did my homework in reading the 3rd gen guide (super helpful 4-Ripcord!!) and most of it looks good, I just think $7k is a tad high looking at some of your posts here over the last year. Thoughts? I know we're in a bit of an inflated market and that this should last me a while, but still. Timing belt done ~4 yrs/30k miles ago. No indication water pump was done at the same time.

That's a fair asking price considering today's market prices. The paint looks to be in good condition without any clear coat fade/peeling. The interior shows some wear, but no rips of stains. Center console lid is cracked which is common. As long as the frame checks out okay I think it's a fair price for that region.

Just bought a 2000 Limited with 166K for $4300. One owner with great frame and good maintenance record. Also have a 2005 v8 that has been family owned since day one. It was a hell of a steal for FL since most have 200K+ and going for at least $8000

Can’t find receipt for expensive repair? Sounds fishy to me - could call shop easily IMO. Ask lots of questions

I paid $6700 for my 1998 Limited with the rear locker earlier this year. It had just over 200k on the odometer. Glad I bought it when I did as prices seem to only be going up.

Since this thread serves as a moving data point...I sold a 225k automatic '98 Limited with elocker for $4800 last month. Any paint facing the sky had lost it's clearcoat years ago, but absolutely no rust since it lived in the west all it's life. Interior was a 7/10. I replaced the timing belt etc. + VC gaskets before selling.
