Hella Micro DE's with Hid kit plug and play install
I recived my fogs today so over the course of the next few days i will be atempting to install thesefogs on my 4runner with a 3000k h3 hid kit. the fogs will need to be modified to fit the hid kit. nothing crazy but the will need modifying for sure. the modifying will need to be done to the rubber dust boot. You will need to cut the boot to run the wires for the bulb. Also you will need to remove the wiring harness from the boot( simply snip the ends off be carful with thes as you may want to reuse them later to wire the hid kit to the factory plugs. also the hid bulbs are a bit tricky to install as well as thes are not regular bulbs and the bulb keeper is not a regular keeper like most foglights
the fogs
the hid kit i got off ebay its cheap at $55 shipped with a 2 year warranty and if it ever goes bad im not gonna sweat it cheaper than buying halogen bulbs.
the harness plugs that plug into the hid ballast these will be modified as you see i snipped off the ends...
to use them with these factory type plugs that came with the Hella kit
and like i said the bulb keeper is different to our oem non hella fogs as you can see its a tight fit with the h3 hid bulbs. iended up bending the tab on the keeper to make it clip in to the original spot.
as i said before you will need to modify the rubber boot to be able to run the hid bulb wires.
ok guys its late here so i will continue more tommorow.
Tony

I'll definitely be checking back at this thread. I got mine in the mail the other day but it has just been too cold to deal with exterior mods the past few days. Plus, my area has been booming with people/ things to do since Inauguration. Did your 99 have OEM fogs?

yes i do have oem fogs on the vehicle with luminics yellow bulbs. but they semed only good for apperance only so i have been wanting to run a hid kit in the fogs but modding h3c to fit the stock fogs were more of a royal pain than making them fit the de's so i went this route instead.

no worries the removal of the original fogs arnt that hard 3 10mm nuts secure each fog light so it was actually a piece of cake.

Looks good, and i think i'm a bit jealous ....... only suggestion i have is when you do two solder joints like that .. if you have room its good to stagger the joints. This will leave a bit more room in the loom, and make sure that if the shrink ever has a problem that they can't short out.

Xentec H3 HID kit question
That is a cool mod installing into the Hella micro DE's, can you also install this Xentec H3 HID kit in the headlights...that is what the kit is made for correct?
I ordered some Sylvania Silverstar Ultras to try for my headlights, but I may want something brighter. Basically I have bad night vision and need to get my headlights and fogs as bright as I can without getting a ticket for it...

One of my fog lights on my 99 limited is broken. The glass took a rock to the face.
Do I need to order the kit for the Micro DE's from yellowandbluelighting.com or can I order only the Micro DE's and fit them to the stock brackets?
