My Top 5 Favorite Places In CO and #1 Fav Place In USA. Pic Heavy

I've seen a lot of post about people asking where the best places in CO are because they're coming here on vacation. So instead of going to the most popular tourist locations, heres my top 5 favorite places in CO in case you're looking for something more exciting and secluded:

#5) Buena Vista. Home to the collegiate mountain range wich has the highest concentration of 14,000 ft peaks in all of CO.

#4) Durango. It's a small mountain college town and it has the coolest downtown area of any city/town I've ever been to. Plus there is the a train that takes you up to silverton and the train ride goes through one of the most beautiful areas in CO.

#3) Winter Park. Small mountain town, ski resort elevation is 12,000ft and trails, trails, trails, and more trails. If you tried to do everything there is to do in Winter Park, I bet it would take a year to do it all. There is so much to do it's overwhelming. Fishing water skiing (in the summer) sledding, skiing, snowboarding, Offroading, hiking, the list goes on and on.

#2) Telluride. You've got two parts of Telluride. On top of the valley mountain you've got the mountain villiage which is where Oprah and Tom Cruise both have a house so its really ritsy but there are some amazing hotels that during the summer are pretty cheap. Then down in the valley you have the main part of Telluride which is the more normal living average income area but full of shops and restraunts and all sorts of stuff. The at the end of the valley...umm its hard to describe it in words

Thats a 1000ft cliff, yes thats someones house, and yes someone lives there and theres a 4x4 trail that goes up to their house and then does a circle aroun the whole valley.

and #1).........\/

Colorado is a beautiful state! Too bad you are so young or you might have experienced the Pearl Street Mall Crawl. Now that was a blast!

Beautiful shots, that is such a nice area. I remeber a time in Zion we came across cave paintings while taking a lunch under some rocks overhangs, blew our mind.

Ya if you're ever out here a again you deffinitely have to vistit Lake City. The cool thing is not a lot of people know about it so its never really super crowded. Its also the site of the Alferd Packer murders. If you dont know who he is just google his name. Throughout all of CO its illegal to ride unlicensed dirt bikes and atv's on the streets but in Lake City the trails are so close to the town that people just ride through town to go get lunch or whatever. So you see dirt bikes and quads and 4x4's all over the place. Its in my list of must see places in the world.

Its a really long drive from Denver, like 4-5 hours or so, but I agree. I used to take my ATV up there all the time and the trails are just amazing. Have you been there before? Theres this one trail that goes all the way up to a little ghost town then up to this little nature lake up above timberline and when you get to the lake it looks like you're completely surrounded by mountains and theres no way out. If... no, when we go we'll probably have to stay a the night cause the drive is so long but if Glen brings his kids, Lake City is an awesome place to go camping. Heck, I might even bring my ATV.

Next time I'm out I'll have to come back to this thread, check out the pictures and try to convince myself not to go. doubtful! In the meantime I have to avoid this thread because I want to hop in the car and leave now
you crack me up. I say you just move here. Because of my job I have to live in Los Angeles for 2 months and NYC for 2 months out of the year plus I travel the county constantly and some times even parts of Europe and there is deffinitely a reason why the only home I actually own is in CO. Its not just the scenery, its the fact that my job requires me to work in major cities, so I can work and live in Denver, then only drive 2 hours west and Im surounded by complete beauty and seclusion. In LA I can drive for 4 hours and never leave the city. Besides if armagedon ever happens, or aliens beem down and start killing everyone, what better place to hide out than in the mountains. Have you seen the movie Independance Day. Every place thats destroyed is highly populated major cities lol. I love my state. oh and p.s. I am a true native. Born and raised in Colorado.

Matt, absolutely excellent pics! I love going out to Colorado, my parents and I go skiing out there a few times a year but we never go off roading, my dad's to concerned w/ scratching his 4runner, haha... One of these days I'm gonna take my t4r out there and have some fun. What kinda quad do you have? I had a 1991 Honda fourtrax 4x4 with about a million miles on it and it was still going strong when I sold it a few months ago, I loved that bike. Sorry to jack your thread,
