My little timeline, and a few ?'s

Purchased 19/01/08 like this:

First I bent the runningboards, so they had to come off:

then came the 31'' toyo's A/T

debadged:

still going to take off the toyota sign, paint it balck, same with the 4runner, and gotta paint the plate tub as well
then friday, last week, i received clear corners, bumper signals, bought 5.5'' deckplate, and 3rd brakelight sticker

I have another pic of the deckplate installed on the cell. Smallest black one they had is the 5.5'', but it fits fine. I'll be adding the mosquito net another time, too cold now. also the sticker will be going on when its warmer.

Still to come:
ISR, or IRS mod
3'' Lift
front widow tint matched
paint the emblems that are staying on
fix rear water squirter
cleaning the dirty engine bay
'01-'02 tails

Question:
the rear water squirter is broken and fell inside.
the door sensor is ****ed, Always tells me my door is open, so I keep the dome lights off
rust is creating around the back wheel well, its gettin bad
and the chrome on the bumpers is spotting bad.

Solutions for my problems? any input is appreciated
TIA
Aleks

If you want to get more of a two tone 4Runner (say, black and silver) I suggest Rhinolining your chrome bumpers. I think this would keep them from rusting and it would even out the appearance of your truck some.

For the rust on the fenders you could patch them up as best you could and throw some fender flares on? Bushwacker flares would look good on your 4R

Welcome neighbour!

Truck's looking good! Looks like you're on the right track with all the mods.

Not sure about some of your questions, but I know the rust spots on the bumper probably mean the end for it. Mine started by just showing the rust color but it was acutally coming from behind and now have two rust (speed) holes in it (Gives me at least 5 more horse with the less weight).

And yes probably the cheap way for the fenders would be bushwackers or maybe if limited flares were easy to fit on a non-limited runner? An option maybe. With that rust stuff, once it comes from behind the metal, it just keeps going unfortunately.

Overall looks good, keep us updated with the mods. Not sure if you're into wheeling but me and another guy on here are going out this weekend in Edmonton. Hopefully get some more trips done later too.

Hard way??? what's the easy way? the bolts were all rusted and I ended up breaking half of them off, it really took a while to take it off

because of the rust spot, I was thinking about gettin flares, and because I want to get spacers for now, to bring out the wheels. 1 1/4 for now, then lower offset rims down the road

gptoy96:
I started wheeling, Ill post couple of newb vids, but it ends up that everything in and around the city is private
where do you take it for wheeling?

I like the way chrome bumpers look with the corners though, but I guess I'll think about rhino stuff for them. I want aftermarket bumpers down the road anyways

I'm the same way, instead of replacing w/ factory bumper, I have an aftermarket in my wish list w/ a tire carrier.

We're heading to that Safari park, it's private just like you said. But at least it's something. I haven't been out since August so really looking forward to it.

Being my location though, in the summer I typically just head west. Nice scenery just an hour out of here, start getting into the hills/mountains.

I agree, the chrome/clears look great together!

If you're willing to come down to Calgary. Out west, we have Waiparous and Mclean Creek (Not Open until May Long weekend).

In fact, March 8th we are heading out on a stocker run so if you're willing to make the trek down here and venture out towards Waiparous you're more than welcome to join us.

I left the brackets on the running boards and just undid the bolts connecting it to the frame. That way I only had to do 6 on each side.

hahaha yea I did that on the second one when I noticed I could do it on the first one I took off.

Where can I find the bushwacker fender flares??? Do I have to drill in the fender to put them on? Or are they stick on sort of thing?

Victor, there is a newbie run here in Edmonton march 7th, but its no good for me, neither is the 8th. how often do you guys do runs like these? Maybe I drive down with gptoy96 if he wants or something, another time.

gp toy96, are you in Edmonton, or in the area? If I have someone to go with, I might check it out. My buddy has a stock cheeroke, he might be interested too.

They are as often as we plan them, we usually try to get out as much as possible. Mind you a few of the guys I go with have families as well so they try to get out as much as the family duties allow.

Do you have any more pictures of your clear corners, and where did you get them from? It looks like they have a noticeable black ring around the edge, which I would hope to avoid when I get my clears.

I got them from ebay, cheapest I could find. There is something black around the edge, but I don't mind it.

I'll look into it Victor, it would be sweet if I could make it to a run down there. Does Calgary have an offroad forum of its own?

Instead of going with the 01-02 Tails, I would recommend these:

I'd probably be interested in a newbie run but not this time around. It's a 4hr drive to Edmonton for me.

I'm in Grande Prairie, I'll be heading up saturday morning. You're know of the park? They're requirements are pretty light. It's me and another fairly stock runner going. Should be a good day, weather's not looking too bad.
