Damn! One of my biggest gripes was that the remote beep was dead quiet and I wished that there was a way to make it louder. Would've never guessed there was a way from the factory!

Have any of you who have replaced the little beeper under the hood and have had it remain quiet afterwards figured out what the issue was?

Mine has the little beep noise and the horn honks, is there anyway to disable the horn from honking and only have the beeps?

Keyless entry
Does anybody know if the oem alarm beeps and does the tone when you press lock on the fob? I just bought a 00 4runner and it does this everytime, plus it locks after 30 seconds if there is no activity. I was thinking with the volume selector i could make it beep louder than the horn.

Mines does the same thing and it makes me think there is an aftermarket alarm installed

Along the same lines - what about a mod to extend the range of the fob? I can't get a response when more than 10 feet from the rig - often less......with a fresh battery.

that doesn't sound normal. I can still get mine to connect from a solid 25-30ft.
