New To Forum - Need General Info / Help on Replacing my 2001 Bumper End

Hello Everyone:

I have been a 4Runner owner since 1996 when I bought my first one. I currently own a 2001 4Runner Limited and I love it. I've never really participated in a 4Runner forum before but I'm here to learn and some day help other users.

I have a specific issue I need help with:

I need to replace both bumper ends on my rear bumper. I have a pick-a-part somewhat close by in Ontario, CA and I was going to head over there to see if I could find two ends from a 96-02 model, get them painted (if I'm not lucky and find the same color) and put them on.

Questions:

1. Is there any source online or does anyone here know specifically how to remove and replace the bumper ends on my model. It looks relatively simple but I want to make sure I do it right.

2. If I need it painted can someone recommend someone in my area to do the work.

3. Any sites that are a good information source for maintenance, upgrades and general information on my year / model.

Thanks in advance for all of the help.

Rick (Upland, CA)

hate to dissapoint you, but i've never seen a 3rd gen 4runner in the ontario, riverside, san bernardino, or monrovia pick a parts. I think most of these vehicles end up at the more expensive salvage yards.

If you do happen to find one at a pick a part, let me know, i need a couple little things! and if i see one in my search tomorrow for some mitsu parts for a customer, i'll do the same.

Well you nailed that one...

I went today and there wasn't a 4runner in the entire lot... let alone a 3rd gen one. However, the $2 admittance fee was worth it as I got to talk to the manager / owner. He said they were VERY rare and turned me on to another place about a mile away.

He told me to go to Crossroads Foreign Dismantlers on Riverside Drive... the phone number is (951) 681-6451. I went over and there was a limited in the lot that they had just pulled in. Jose is the guys name I talked to. It had been in a front end collision so the sides and rear were all in good condition. He told me they specialized in 4Runners. Anyways, I'm going back tomorrow to pick up a couple parts myself.

Do you think the following are good prices for the parts I asked about? Cause they sounded a little steep to me.

He wanted $75 for the rear left bumper end (it was scratched enough that it had to be painted). PS That was the only piece that was scratched up and of course the one I needed.

He wanted $100 for the right rear bumber end (no scratches).

He wanted $75 for the rear spoiler / wing.

What do you think of those prices?
