The only time I use them is when I do this but I usually use the rear bumper anyway

I think it really depends on what you use your runner for, or what you want it to look like it's used for.
Here is what running boards mean to me:
On: clean lines, hidden gas tank and stuff underneath, attractive and functional for a city SUV (nothing wrong with that)
Off: offroad functionality, little more "rugged", vehicle appears taller, "this aint a pretty boy truck so I don't care that my underside is revealed"
If your runner was mine, I would take them off. I think your rig looks great either way...I mean come on...ITS A 4RUNNER!!!

Yeah it does look pretty sweet either way, I am thinking about a lil lift (body) so I may put them back on after the lift to hide the spacers. I think I may leave them off for now
Or maybe just that one side since thats all I took off to take pics and I git tired after one...lol

I say take em off unless you routinely carry small children or really old people that need the step.

Yeah since I got my wife's van the kids ride with her. And since I have a HUGE (LOUD)subwoofer no one likes ridin with me anyway

I don't even know where they came from. I guess they came on it from the dealer?? I got the car from my father in law, he bought it from the dealer new in 96..... I like my wheels too, I want them black though
