Stock parts for my 3rd gen - Hilux Surf
Hi Folks,
I'm new here, been lurking mostly. Lots of good info on the site.
Anyhow, I'm from Ireland and I have a 1997 Hilux Surf. It's the 3.0l turbo diesel version of your 4Runners.
I'm trying to pick up some parts for it, but cannot seem to get them (shipping to Ireland).
I want to get hold of a sunroof deflector, roof rack and a hood protector.
Have you guys got any idea where I can get them?
Any help appreciated!
Thanks

Howdy. Post some pics of your Hilux Surf if you get a chance. I'm looking at possibly getting a 96 Surf from Japan in 2011 (we have to wait 15 years to import a car from overseas in Canada). What can you tell me about yours? Have you had any problems with yours? Would you recommend it? I don't know how the diesel engine is so any feedback would be awesome!
Thanks

I think both the OEM Toyota hood protector and sunroof deflector have been discontinued due to lack of sales. Your best bet would be finding them at a salvage yard or something like that.

I've been watching ebay for the parts, but haven't seen any yet. There are no salvage yards over here that stock these parts.
The 3rd gen is very rare over here because any in Ireland have been imported from overseas.
Are there any toyota salvage yards online I could try?
Or would any of you guys that are close to a salvage yard pull the parts for me and we could sort out payment? (here's hoping )

willing and able
I am here to help you out sir.
The sunroof deflectors have proven to be hard to find.
Would you consider aftermarket?
Hood protector should not be all that difficult.

Hey Ron,
Thanks for the help!
I would go aftermarket for the hood protector no problem. For the sunroof deflector the stock one is held on with clips which I like. Not a big fan of the stick on ones though.
Do you know of any parts around?
Thanks

For the hood protector you could check out AVS. That's what I have and I know a few other have it as well. Try this link

I like that AVS hood protector. Nice the way it follows the contours of the grille and lights!

Yeah I broke my OEM one and didn't like the way it looked without a deflector on the front so I figured I couldn't go wrong picking up an almost identical one from AVS for like 48 bucks.
