"TRAC OFF" light + "VCS TRAC" light +"check engine" light...

My wife was driving the runner (2001 SR5 2wd) here a while back and hit a puddle and the "TRAC OFF" light, "VCS TRAC" light and the "check engine" light all came on. They stayed on for a few days but I was unable to go get it checked out. Then, they just went off and have not come back on at all. That was probable 5 or 6 months ago and the earliest. I haven't had any problems out of it since then but I was in it yesterday messing with a few things (cleaning and such) and it was running and I hit the TRAC OFF button and no light came on on the dash. I am about 100% that an orange light use to come on that said "TRAC OFF" when I would hit this button. Can someone tell me if I am just dreaming that the light use to come on and if it did, do you think my TRAC system is working properly?? Thanks gang! I'm learning a lot on here!!

And yes, I did search for this and it's a common thing. But since mine went off and stayed off, its a little different. Thanks for any help!!

TRAC OFF and VSC TRAC automatically comes on when you have a code in your ECU.

If your code went away by itself and your truck is running right, you should'nt worry about that...

What about no light coming on on the dash when I hit the TRAC OFF button? I know the light use to come on, but now it doesn't. Anyone know which fuse controls that? Maybe it blew.

Those lites wont go off until the actual code is cleared. Oviously the check eng lite came on for a reason so you should probably get it checked. Once you find out the code, if you can fix it, then clear the code and all your lites will be off. The trac and vsc lites come on and go into a fail safe mode when your check eng lite comes on and need to be manually reset.

Maybe I wasn't clear. All the lights are off. No light is on right now. The lights came on when my wife his a puddle last summer and they stayed on for a couple days then went off and have not come back on since.

I am referring to this post. If you cant operate the trac lites with the button, its because you havent manually cleared the codes. Pull your EFI fuse under the hood for 20-30 secs and recheck it

Ahh. Now I'm following ya!

Where is the EFI fuse located under the hood? I've only messed with the in-cab fuse box. Thanks

oh cursed those 3 lights! i had those exact ones come on once while just driving in the city, than again when i cleaned my throttle body. the first time i took it in it read an idle control sensor code and the 2nd time it shut off before i could take it in. I havent seen them come on since. anyway with the light could it just be the bulb? mine doesnt have the option to turn it off but yeah im intersted to know these things.

TRD, here is what i found out as far as the location of the EFI fuse..
.
As you face the front of the 4Runner, you will see the battery at the front right. The FUSE BOX is just beyond the battery. The top of the fuse box has a panel which identifies each fuse. The EFI fuse is the MIDDLE FUSE, closet to the right fender.

Hope that helps you some. I'm going to pull mine tonight and see if it does anything.
