cheap mods for this weekend, but need help/advice

i was in advanced auto the other weekend looking at stuff to paint my grill when i saw a brake caliper painting kit. i kinda wanted to do this but really wasnt sure about it. the kit in stock only comes in red, but it says there is a black kit. does anybody know if a parts place like this will order stuff like this if its not on the shelf? or would red look good enough to just go ahead and do it that way. i know rock slide has his red and it looks good, but since my rims are black opposed to a silver i'm not sure if it would blend as nice.

then, i found a streetglow thin led strip in blue that i though about wiring up to match my gauges. is this pretty easy to do? and could you wire it to the fusebox so when the headlights are on the lights come on?

also i need a set of wipers pretty bad. has anybody tested out the rain-x latitude whippers? they looked pretty nice.

Autozone is pretty bad with keeping things in stock so I would ask them when the next shipment will come in. You can also order things online from them. I think contrasting caliper colors look best but it really depends on the body color imo. Your color works with just about anything. The Rain-x lattitudes were given the highest ratings by consumer reports but I went for a cheaper brand myself.

yea i looked on ebay for the black kit and the seller wanted ten more dollars then what it cost in store. i think i will go with red since its already in stock and will make a bigger statement and would help bring out the red in my TRD decal.

I have the Bosch Icons wipers (similar to the Rain-x) and I really like them and performed quite well in the snow and icy weather.

I have the Rain-X wipers myself and have been pretty pleased with them. The Bosch Icons have come highly recommended by lots of members and if they had been in stock I would have bought them instead but I was impatient and went with the Rain-X. For the price, I've been pleased.

cheap mods?

sorry to use the "D" word...but, I just finished the deckplate mod.
I feel that it was very effective. I found a K&N for my 2.7L Tacoma cheap, but the deckplate was much cheaper and even more effective. Waiting on air filter...
Blue lights? Bad idea, they attract attention from people like me when I am working...

Good luck.

guessing your a man of the law? i figured it was pretty much legal as long as only in car passengers could see and it was not a distraction to other drivers?

yup

yes, I am...but I thought you meant outside, like the neon ground kits!? I am relieved to see you meant inside. That would look neat.
I think it is funny though that now that I am "older", perhaps a little wiser, I see young kids doing things to their rides similar to what I used to do. Unfortunately for them it just draws attention.

Let me know how the installs go. Have you done the deck mod?
