Upgrading Headlight Bulbs
Hey all, been lurking the forum for awhile and the info that is shared is fantastic. Have a 01 T4R SR5 4X4 with 144K and have started a few budget priced upgrades after doing some maintance on it. Would like to upgrade the headlight bulbs on it to get a longer whiter beam. Would like suggestions on plugs and plug wires as well. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Many thanks.

I put a set of Philips X-Treme bulbs in my '01 Runner a couple months ago. Huge improvement over the stock bulbs. I'm really happy with them.
My best friend has an '01 as well and he has Silverstar Ultra's -- he likes my Philips X-treme bulbs better too and said he'd probably go with them next time around.

Prob just the camera, I had HID's in my stock 02 housing for over a year and never got high beamed, now as for my 08, 9 out of 10 drivers honk, flash high beams, or flip me off on 2 lane roads... but they are bright as hell and I can see great!

haha and he's even got projectors
oh and BTW, the plug and play kit only takes about a half hour...and that's if you have no idea what a headlight even is...I installed it in about 12 minutes

I have the HID/Halogen low/high beam kit, 12,000K
I would recommend getting the HID dual beam though, as the halogen high beam is garbage

actually not, because HID bulbs don't work with a filament like a traditional light bulb, it's all a gas reaction in a sealed bubble, so turning them off and on repetedly wouldn't have much affect on the bulb
come to think of it, though, the ballasts might suffer from the on/off/on/off
1 year warranty though, or call them and see if they recommend them for your application?
