Swapping fender flares on my 3rd gen

I've got the black matte fender flares and have always preferred the look of the chrome trim. I have been reading various threads in the archives but have been unable to determine if they are a direct swap. Before beginning a search for a set, or someone who wants to trade, does anybody know how easy this swap is?

It should be a direct swap since I don't think Toyota would spend extra money to drill two sets on something as simple as a fender piece. I know when I swapped out my chrome trim on my '97 for a set of Bushwackers and the BWs were predrilled for the OEM setup and they fit so I'm sure the holes should be the same but there is always something that needs a little modification.

The other thing to consider is that when you remove the larger flares there might be a difference in paint color from fading and possibly a scuff line that would need to be buffed out.

Yeah I read up on that as well and it should be just a swap and play (pull and replace) change.

What are you going to do with the black ones once you remove them? Want to sell them?

If I can find some chrome strips, they go on easily, and there isn't too much paint discoloration underneath my black ones, yeah, I'll probably sell them.

I'd be interested in those flares if you do decide to sell them.

if your flares attach like the limited ones do, they wont switch. i removed my chrome strips and they mount inside the fender, no holes through the body.

From what I can tell my black flares mount in a similar fashion to the chrome strips...inside the fender, not bolted onto the body like the Limited ones. I am guessing that the bolt holes for both styles are in the same place.
