Has anyone used a speed sensor calibrator, advice/recommendations?
I have 35's and want my spedo and odometer to read correctly, has anyone used a speed sensor calibrator such as this one:
TruSpeed calibrator

Can't really offer much help with the calibrator, but this conversion table will let you put in your new size tire, and compare it to your stock size and tell you the difference in speed as well as a few other things.
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
I just put in your info...says when your doing 60MPH you are actually going 67.8MPH!!

Its supposed to be within 1% of being perfect but id recommend doing that and then double checking with GPS. Too much work for me, i just keep in mind that im running about 10% faster then what my speedo shows.
Here is the instruction PDF

I've been considering installing something like this too even though I only have slightly oversize tires. There's a writeup on 4x4wire on the Dakota Digital unit that costs about $80 which is a lot cheaper than the Superlift box. Is there an advantage I'm not seeing that makes it worth $200?

I just use my GPS. I haven't been pulled over yet. I've compared my GPS readings to the little radar signs in construction zones and found it to be correct.

I ended up purchasing the Dakota Digital SGI5 to recalibrate my speed signal.
The only issue how to hook it up. Does any one know where the speed sensor is on a automatic 96' 4wd Limited 4runner, maybe even what color the wires are?
Im told it is supposed to be on the transfercase, and using the Superlift install instructions i am looking for a grey w/ blue striped wire. I have cleaned off and checked all wires, and no such wire exists.
There are a few things working against me here. Most the write-ups are for tacomas and supposedly the green with red stripe wire i am looking for is white with blue stripe on 99 4runner, but i have a 96 and we all know thats a funky year. Next i have an auto, when most the articles are for 5-speeds. Also, the Limited edition 4runner has a completely different transfer case with even more wires becuase its electronically activated via the button on the lever. On top of all this there are multiple wires that are red with green stripes. This sucks.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

It did work and to me it was definitely worth it. Its dead on as compared to GPS and highway mile markers. Here is some helpful info i posted in another thread. Long story short id find someone who quotes you the best price and pray they stick to it.
When i needed help installing it i didnt find much help on the forums, so i paid the shop who did my lift. The thing i realized quickly is not every 3rd gen has the same wire colors based on yr, model, trans type, limited or non, etc. My tech actually hooked it up incorrectly the first time and had to redo it after spending a lot of his personal time searching on the forums. All the splicing was done up by the ecu which is in the passenger side dash above/behind the glove box. Its important to alter the signal in the right place, iirc the signal goes from the sensor to the speedometer then to the ecu...all i remember is it is ass-backwards from what i expected. The way he had it hooked up the first time made the tranny shift badly but no affect on the speedo. Oh btw there are two speed sensors you have to use the right one. If you have a shop that has done one of these before id recommend using them. They quoted me way too low and stuck to their guns, if they had charged me hourly id be broke right now for how much time they spent getting it figured out.

If it were me. I'd regear. That way you not only get the speedo and odo correct you get the correct power and RPMs.
