Hello new 4runner on the board
Hi there just bit the bullet and purchased a one owner 98 limited. Evergreen Pearl. I know dare to be different but I really like the color. They're delivering it on Friday night.
Just want thank everybody on the this great site. I have been lurking for a couple months gathering info on 4runners before I pulled the trigger. I cant wait to pull off the bumpers, running boards, and put a lift underneath it. Thanks again for all the great info!

Welcome to the board! I've always loved that color... good luck with your projects and hope you enjoy your Runner as much as we do here.

i like the grill guards (especially on the big lip 3rd Gens) the problem is that if you have a head on prang/crash (eek) the guard can divert and concentrate pressures in a way that can end up causing a heck of a mess, at least that was my experience. It's a shame.
Looks like a nice truck - I don't think I've seen one with that color, black flare, and chrome bumper combo before.

Nice 4Runner. I saw pictures posted on the website. It looks to be in good shape and @ 101,000 miles, it should last a long time.
I am not sure about the compaines spokesman though. I mean buying a car from "Mr. Ed."???

Thanks, I plan on removing the grill guard and bumper. I'm looking at a shockworks single hoop front bumper to replace it. Then color match it with bedliner material with the bottom color. I'm also going to do the back bumper in the same way. That's the plan anyway.

Really, what freaks me out, is now that I look at Mr. Ed, he seems to be 3D and he seems to follow you when you get up and leave the computer. Freaky.

That's a great color! I think you might want to consider a "chip guard" paint for your bumper too. I just saw some F-150 flares painted with chip guard and it looked great. It flowed really nicely into the rest of the brand new paint job and offered a durable finish without the roughed up look. Just thought I'd throw that out there and congrats on your purchase!

Thanks for the info on the paint. They are delivering it on Saturday for free. Saved me about 6 and half hours of driving. Then let the tear down begin. I suppose I'll be putting the front and rear bumpers up for sale. Along with the brush guard and running boards. Anyone interested I get pics of the stuff when I remove it.
