Crank, NO start... Please help!

Hey all, I have a 00 SR5 4runner 6cyl 4x4 that out of no where, will not start. It will crank its little heart off, but just not go all the way. We checked it out last night, no check engine lights and there is spark so we were thinking maybe a fuel pump until we sprayed starting fluid in the T body and still nothing. Does anyone have experience with this? Any help would be awesome. I miss my truck and am forced to drive my bro's 87 chevy blazer!

Did you remove the air filter element before spraying the starting fluid?

Strange you would think it would have at least tried to start. Can you pull a spark plug and check the gap etc.?

My point exactly, thats why I dont understand. I have to check it out again tonight. I just went as far as to pull the wire off and check for spark, and it was there. It doesnt make sense to me because the day before it ran great like usual. Well, I'll check that, and start again.

This is a shoot in the dark, but have you tried putting any dry gas in? With it being cold and damp latley, maybe you just have some moisture in your fuel.

Pull a plug and see if it is fouled or wet from fuel. If you have fuel to the cylinder, and spark to good, clean plugs, then timing or compression become suspects. A compression check might be called for. There have been two cases of guys with terminal sludge that kept valves from closing and thus no start with good fuel and good spark. If you have had the truck a while and been changing oil this is probably not the case. Timing belt is other possibility; compression check would rule that out as well.
