e-brake light/grinding noise issue

So I started my truck at about 6 am after working the night shift and it kind of choked and hesitated. It stayed running but I noticed a rattling/grinding noise from directly under the truck, and that the ebrake light was on even though the brake was off. I drove away and it kept bogging down. I got on the freeway and it took me a while to get up to freeway speed. Then suddenly at about 60 mph the ebrake light went out and the truck jerked forward as if I were towing something heavy and then were suddenly freed from it. The grinding noise also went away at the same time, and I drove home
normally with no issue. Does anybody have an idea what that was all about?

Sounds to me like the rear brakes got stuck. It happens. Did you smell anything when you got to your destination? I drove my parents car(many years ago) with the ebrake on and it made quite a stink when I got where I was going. Of course I never told them, so let's keep it between you, me, and the internet.:D

That's what i thought at first, but the fact that it had difficulty starting and that the grinding noise was coming from the middle makes this puzzling. Also, I did not notice any unusual smells. Haha your secret is safe with me

Not an idea but just thought I would mention that you don't have an ebrake light, you have a brake system light. I've made the mistake of thinking that the light pertains only to the ebrake, but it comes on for other reasons such as low brake fluid.
