Paint fading on my 98'

Hey guys, i'm new to these forums, looks like a great 4runner community here

I'm having a problem with my 98 4runner - I currently live in Florida and the extremely hot sun is fading the black paint on my truck, and turning it into a white-ish kind of color. Any cheap suggestions on what i can do to help keep it's black coat shiny?

Steve

Some pics might help to determine the level of damage (oxidation) I would think you would be able to buff it out with some rubbing compound and protect it with a wax job.

Others probably would know exactly what product to use, or what has worked for them.

Meguiar's has some good products, I've used this before:

Meguiar's Direct Ultimate Compound

And like notrayray said, protect it with some wax.

You probably have the same problem I have. All the clear coat on my truck is gone. I can wax it till the cows come home, but can't get it to shine anymore. I would take it to a detail shop and see what they tell you.

Black 4runners do not have clear coat just an FYI. I have seen some wonderful things with a product called Klasse All In One on oxidation. If you do not have a quality orbital polisher like a porter cable there is very little you will be able to reasonably do.

Hopefully, the OP found a solution a decade ago!
