Suspension Options thread?
Seems like everyday I get on and there is a new thread titled "help me lift my 99 4Runner" or something of the sort. This is probably the 2nd most common question I see on here, right behind "whats the biggest tire I can fit without a lift". Any chance we could make a decent, non-cluttered thread of all your basic suspension lift options, pros and cons, and average price and STICKY it?
Maybe this has been discussed before and never caught on?

The problem with that is that the smaller specialty forums (audio, tires...etc) seem to get very little traffic in comparison with the generation specific forums. Also, there are now 5 different generations of 4Runner, each with a different suspension design. I don't really think it would be that easy to find specific information there and we would just end up with the same questions.

Sticky vote. But it should be limited to only those folks who have DONE the upgrade, what parts they used, their experience, etc. Once it gets cluttered up with questions it's too tough to get through it. So, in that respect it's more of a How-To Wiki.

Maybe it's the bulletin board software, but the VW forum I frequent for my other vehicle sorts differing subjects, makes and models quite well. Better than here IMHO.

I once answered a post listing the 5 or six most common lifts with pros and cons along sources for the parts and requested that it be made a sticky. I also included if you use your truck for this then you may want to do this ***** lift if useage is this then get xxxx lift. I agree we need to make a SUSPENSION QUESTION sticky in each Generation forum. I dont like jumping on people and say use the search function but it is getting out of hand.

agreed, keep it model specific, when i want to know audio stuff i search here anyways, never venture to the other forums.
if anything a stick or faq would be in order or at least a stick of links to thread write ups on particular lifts and then the conversation on any given lift can be continued in there as opposed to a big huge stick thread with every lift and every comment in there.

I was thinking of something along the lines of this format:
1998 4Runner
3" OME lift from Toytec including OME 881 front springs and top out spacers, and 890 rear springs
Price: $389.99
(Picture)
Brief comment about what you do and don't like about this particular lift and anything else necessary like what size tires you are running or anything.
There would really be no need for any comments on lifts. If you have to ask any more questions you could pm someone, but it should answer pretty much all questions anyways. Posting in that format would be mandatory, and it would need moderated so that all usesless posts or posts not in the correct format could be deleted or the user notified to change it....
What do you guys think? I can kick it off if we think it will be a good idea.

i think the mods on this forum are against any new work, lol
is it a good idea, of course it is, i just think it would be a rich conversation and easier to sift through if it was like this
3rd gen ultimate lift thread
in the thread....
linky to write up on toytech
linky to write up on ome
linky to write up on xxxx
locked thread
then in the write up threads have parts descriptions and installation notes and comments on how it works and price ect,
then below the actual write up portion of the threads you can have an on going debate about particular lifts and pro's and con's of each.
i really think that format will stop others from having to search through 50 threads to get everyone's opinions and experiences. that way you have a full unedited conversation and the mods don't have any extra work load.
they just do their mod thing as usual instead of trying to keep an sticky thread that's going to be as busy as the lift one clean.
really i don;t care how they go about it, it really just needs to be done when you have 4 of the top 5 threads about lifting.
