about toyota recall do you get worried? or do you care? I dont :)
i never get scare when they said toyota caused accidents, I think that maybe its a dirty economy war, maybe is not maybe are injuried familys maybe dont , but IM still buy toyota last month, well im a toyota user and never fail to me never do major fixed or repairs even I have had 6 toyota cars with more than 4 years with them, since I have toyota i stop searching for technicians or mechanics never dead car on street, always starting in the morning, just pad brakes struts, oil changes, 3 engine belts, air filters gas filters. I have ford, chevy and others always let me down, so let me know if you are concerned about this recall or advises about toyota quality and performance.

Not worried a bit.
1. My 4runner doesn't have a drive-by-wire throttle (at least I don't think it does) and
2. I know how to shift into neutral on my auto tranny.

Yeah, I'm not put off by this at all and would still buy Toyota in a heartbeat. Driver's ed basics: If the gas pedal sticks, put it in neutral like Martinjmpr said. Or if that didn't work you could do what you always do to shut the car off... turn the key!

I think the recall is dumb and im not worried about it at all... My dad has an '09 tacoma double cab and he saids if it speeds up then hell get places faster. Its funny bc the ratio of fails for the recall of toyota is less than the avg recall for any american made company (FORD, GMC, etc)

i know that, I think toyota was very smart accepting this as a guilty company and reborn from the ashes, cause gmc is powerfull talking about politics. as I said before maybe Im in love with toyotas and now more with my 4runner 99

There's a very effective marketing technique called self-admittance in which a company admits and apologizes for their product not being up to standards and assures the public that "they know they weren't as good as they should be, but things have changed and we are working hard to gain your loyalty again". Dominoes Pizza just did this and their sales skyrocketed - even though their pizza still sucks.

I have had 6 toyota's and dealt with 3 separate recalls with the vehicles and have had excellent service from toyota durring the recalls. In my opinion this is media trying to bring down the competition to the level of american manufacturers and help out the good ol boys (GM, FORD, CHRYSLER).
I feel for anyone who was hurt by their vehicle not performing to par, however just like the swine flu people die every year from the flu, auto accidents, and old age and I stand by my decision to drive/own Toyota's.
Everyone who can afford to needs to go buy a new Toyota, and if anyone wants to buy me one I will take a new 4r TE or Tundra, you can decide!!

This is exactly what I have been saying about this issue. The Government is trying to beat down Toyota because it has been doing well for so long and they are out for Blood with these recalls. I have full confidence that Toyota will come out of this situation even stronger.

Recall from a dealer perspective
I work for a Toyota dealership in Canada. The true Toyota consumers really haven't been to worried about the recall. They know its part of business. Most of the complaints have been from non import drivers and old people that sit at home and read/watch the news. It was slow here towards the end of january/ begining of feb but things are getting back to pace. We had the head of service for Toyota Canada come in and talk to our customers during our monthly after hours walkthrough and he showed us some pictures of these "gas pedal" issues. I will put it to you this way, one Tundra had 4 floor mats on the driver side. The Prius complaint is really good, that guy said his was going at 140 mph... if you have ever driven a Prius you know that it has enough issues doing 60. Anywho I have attached some great links to read if you have 10 mins

I work at a Toyota/Lexus dealership and from my experience the majority of the customers that come in are not really 'car people ',like most everyone they use a car to get from one place to another and are not into doing mods and such.Of course there is a core group that are really into their cars but for the most part people are not too up on their own vehicle.Alot of times someone will come up and need something but cannot tell me what year/model they drive. Not trying to say most people don't know anything about cars just that in maybe in an emergency might not really know how to react.
A big problem being seen concerning the whole gas pedal thing are customers piling in extra mats on top of the factory carpet which can cause problems. As for the rest of the recalls I agree with drinknmolson/jspagna1 the media is really beating Toyota over the head as much as possible and at our end Toyota has been doing all it can to make things good.
OK done with the soapbox !
