I think I have seen someone do it before. It will rub like hell though. You could always just do some cutting.

Id wait, you don't want to make more trouble for yourself by tearing up your truck and the new tires.

id love to wait a week... but i came across a great opportunity to sell my stock wheels and tires to someone who needs them asap... my hope is to hammer back the pinch weld and just make due for this next week until the weekend to put the lift on. hoping someone can chime in and say theyve done it!

if this is the case.. just do it though u will have to do more then hammer in the pinch welds. Ull have to cut some of the front bumper for sure and possibly a little fender to make them fit so dont mess ur the runner and ur tires.

HAHA. I love these zombie posts. Pretty sure a bit of hammering is needed with 285/75s even with a 2"' lift and 1.25" spacers.....backing up at full turn, anyway.

Wow- what a blast from the past! To answer my own query- the 285s on 80 rims def would not have fit without the lift. Good luck with yours!

At a minimum, you need a 1" body lift, 99 "tall" springs, and BFH the offending pinch weld area. My '97 has been this way for 8(?) years.

Don’t forget that at that size you’ll lose the ability to fit a full size (fully inflated) spare in the stock location

Anyone squeezing a deflated 33 down there? I do carry a little 5.4 CFM Smitty compressor. I hate carrying a spare down there at all, but I not gonna drop $1200 on a swingout bumper - don't qualify for a Stimmy check but am still broke AF all the time.....

I remember reading about someone keeping a partially deflated 33” down there with a ratchet strap around it keeping it compressed and out of the way..
Another note on the stock spare location: a body lift can misalign the spare hoist and the crank access hole so that you can’t easily use the spare hoist tool to lower the spare. This is because the access hole is through the body, but the hoist is frame-mounted. 3rd Gen 4Runner Body Lift Installation

Yeap, i rub on the inner linner when Im in that situation. But I also just found out while at the Sand Dunes last week that under full compression the 285/75s will smash into the fenders and cause your fender flares to not sit flush against the metal anymore.
