Is there an "idiot's guide to harwiring accessories" anywhere?

Hi guys (and gals),

I gues the title says it all. Is there an "idiot's guide to harwiring accessories" anywhere? I've got a radar detector that I'd like to hardwire into the accesory power (so it comes on when the car does), and an inverter I'd like to hardwire that can be on at all times (it has an on/off switch so I can turn it off if I think battery drain will be an issue). I just can't stand having tons of cigarette lighter power adapters strewn about!

Problem is.. I have no idea how to do any of this. Are there any idiot-proof guides out there? Thanks!

-jon

yeah, i don;t know about the inverter though, i think the rear cig lighter might be an always on sort of thing so you could possibly run it under the carpet and store under the rear seat, what do you run on the inverter?

I ran the inverter on 8 gauge from the battery to the inverter under the passenger seat, i grounded it out on a seat bolt, then i covered the 8 gauge with wire loom (i think, its a plastic wire cover).
