Eibach/Toytec with Bilstein 5100s?

Was wondering about this front setup for a 3" lift. I'm sitting here about to buy the full OME setup and then noticed that you can put the eibach springs with bilstein 5100 shocks.

Does anybody have this setup for front and if so how do you like it? Pictures even and any input in general. Also if you have this setup what do you have in rear? Would it be fine to do OME 890's with bilstein 5150s?

Thanks in advance. Visa card in hand on a rainy day so I'm out to buy the front lift this week. Just bought clear corners and bumper lamps too. Should be here in a week or so.

I have the setup you are talking about in the front, and ome 890s in the back. I think I only got about 2.5" of lift in the back with the 890s. The ride is really good, the install was pretty easy, I dont have any complaints. I can get some pics for you later. I sprung (no pun intended) the extra $20 for the silver springs because I didn't want the bright red ones.

Right on. To clarify what's the difference from buying the toytec $599 priced coilovers as oppose to piecing them all together? I see they have the silver eibach (892-620) springs for $149 then you can buy the front bilstein 5100 shocks (D-558) for $189. Am I missing an obvious thing or are they totally opposite?

I called to findout but they're of course closed until Monday.

Looks like the adjustablity is different when you buy just the shocks. Like it doesn't look like you can adjust it when ever you want. Maybe you have to disasemble everything. The other one has the spaner wrenches and the threaded part. Not sure, but both of the ones you are looking at require you use your stock top plates, and you will have to put it together.

Ahh..hmm for the cheaper price I don't think it'd be that bad. I could just adjust to 2.5 in front and leave it. I'll have to wait and ask I guess to be for sure. It would be nice to save an extra $250 or so and use that $ for the rear lift.

What are your thoughts on using stock top plates? Was it more of just a convenient thing for you? Plus nice to have all new ones? Any problems using stock? Wonder what the difficulty level would be if I tried to fabricate my own?

Check out this thread for my learning experience with these things...
trying to pre-assemble coilovers

its not that bad, if you know what you are getting into...

Edit: also wanted to point out that the reason you want to buy top plates is that when we installed mine, I had to cut one of the top plate studs off, essentially leaving the old top plate useless...

A few tips
1. buy a set of new top plates and get some bushings as I dont believe that Toytec sells bushings with theirs. OME has bushings with the kit.

2. make sure to get a coil compressor from autozone or checker...

3. make sure you line up the lower shock bolt with the a top bolt before releasing any pressure, otherwise you will be putting a compressor on them again to line them up when putting them on the runner...

4. Make sure you have the correct instructions.. Mine were for the new FJ/Tundra/4th Gen 4runner. Caused some problems.

edit:4.5: have air tools and ratcheting wrenches on hand... also a long and short breaker bar are super useful

5. Pm me if you have any questions...

Well I still haven't decided on front suspension. Instead I bought the rear 891's. I almost got 890 but oh well I'm thinking the long run it should hold up the best. As for the front I might go with ome soft springs with spacer sonit's a smooth ride. I haven't had a chance to call toytec yet to figure out how the shocks/springs come assembled. Spent just as much $ on paint for the interior of my house than I did on rear suspension. Will keep you posted.

How do you guys like your 891's? I understand they're stiff for awhile but won't sag as quickly?

Thanks
