What are your thoughts on using stock top plates? Was it more of just a convenient thing for you? Plus nice to have all new ones? Any problems using stock? Wonder what the difficulty level would be if I tried to fabricate my own?

Check out this thread for my learning experience with these things...
trying to pre-assemble coilovers
its not that bad, if you know what you are getting into...
Edit: also wanted to point out that the reason you want to buy top plates is that when we installed mine, I had to cut one of the top plate studs off, essentially leaving the old top plate useless...
A few tips
1. buy a set of new top plates and get some bushings as I dont believe that Toytec sells bushings with theirs. OME has bushings with the kit.
2. make sure to get a coil compressor from autozone or checker...
3. make sure you line up the lower shock bolt with the a top bolt before releasing any pressure, otherwise you will be putting a compressor on them again to line them up when putting them on the runner...
4. Make sure you have the correct instructions.. Mine were for the new FJ/Tundra/4th Gen 4runner. Caused some problems.
edit:4.5: have air tools and ratcheting wrenches on hand... also a long and short breaker bar are super useful
5. Pm me if you have any questions...
