So I ordered LC Coils from Katy @ Rocki Top Auto and they came in today but I'm a little worried that they're not the right ones. They are a copper brown in color (which just means they're used, but I cannot see any color code whatsoever), measure just over 20" in height, 6" in width, & if I'm right are... 10/11 wraps? Which is mainly what leads me to believe they shipped me the wrong coils... Tell me what you guys think cause I may be having to call Katy at Rocki Top Auto soon.
EDIT: So I talked to Katy from Rocki Top just to double check the order and they are in fact the front coils from a 1993 Land Cruiser. Exactly what model Land Cruiser... I don't know? Any input you guys have would still be helpful though...

Wow and 10.5 wrap it looks like. They are pretty tight and the height is the same as 9-9.5 wraps. I would think they would provide a lot of lift but might be a little stiff and maybe not flex as well as other springs might. they have to be off of a FJ80 because 40's 60's all had leaf front and rear. good luck.

Wow.. yeah, they look thicker too...
10.5 wraps?? what the heck? even the 91s didnt come with that many wraps??
Ive done a ton of studying on these LC coils and I have no idea... did they come from the back end of an LC??
Katy should know to get the front ones... Ill check with her.

Yea, I called her today around 4pm EST. She double checked the order form (which came from Sierra Auto Recycling in Ridgecrest, CA) and they came off the front of a 93 LC. There's just not much that seems to add up about these... thickness, 10.5 wrap, copper brown color, and no color coded paint dots.
My only guess is that maybe these are lift coils for a LC? ...and the salvage yard that shipped them didn't know they weren't stock LC coils?
EDIT: The ONLY marking on them is on the bottom of the coil which says "RD10" if I'm right. I'll post up a picture of that too.

EDIT: I think if you have them sent back to Katy, she can find some more and get them to you...

Well as cool as 8 inches would be... I thiiiiink that's a little unpractical
Here's the picture of the code on the bottom... don't think it means much but just in case.
Soooo... if these are LC 4" lift coils, how would I go about verifying that and would it be worth it to sell these & then buy again from Katy (essentially are they worth more than $90 total)?

I guess it depends on what you can get for them from the LC guys... try one of their boards and see if you can get more for em... I guess thats better than a str8 refund and swap with Katy if you can pull it off.
isnt IH8Mud one of the LC sites??

Yea I'll probably throw the pics up on their classified section & see if I get any bites in the next few days. If not then Katy told me she would correct the order and get me the right coils (hopefully at no extra cost).
EDIT: Luckily these aren't the last piece I need for my lift... otherwise this would be pretty frustrating. I'm still waiting on the unassembled coil-overs w/ Taco billies from ToyTec... I hope to have those within 2 weeks, but could be up to a month I think

So I have one more quick question for you guys running 9 wrap LC coils in the rear & adjustable coil-overs in the front...
If 9 wraps give approx. 4.5-5.5 inches of lift in the rear, and I'm assuming you all are jacking your adjustables up to at least 3 inches, then are most of you running with a pretty good amount of rake?
I have ToyTec adjustables on the way and was planning on 8 wrap LC coils so I would have minimal rake (~3" Fr lift, ~4" R lift). And now that I've done about uh... 4 hours of research on LC coils tonight, I'm gathering that if I potentially want to run 35's, then 9 wraps might be a better option. But how are you guys managing to run 9 wraps with minimal rake if adjustable fronts only go up to 3.5"? Or are you just running with alot of rake?
In other words, how much lift are you guys getting from stock with adjustable front coil-overs?

Yea I kinda got the feeling that was the case. Whats the rake like on your rig Du?
EDIT: Also, Du... just looking around at some Toyota parts sites and looking at production years for different LC front coils. I'm getting the feeling that in "general" (and please no one take this as fact, b/c this is only a enlightened guess...) the 91/92 fj80 carried the 9 wraps b/c of the bulkier engine, the 93/94 fzj80 carried the 7 wraps b/c of lighter engine, and then the 95/96/97 fzj80 carried the 8 wraps b/c of engine upgrades which increased weight. This could be total BS but just looking at general production times for the coils gave me this hunch.
Jan 1990 - Aug 1991... 1991 FJ80, 1992 FJ80, 1993 FJ80
Aug 1992 - Jan 1995... 1992 FZJ80, 1993 FZJ80, 1994 FZJ80, 1995 FZJ80
July 1995 - Jan 1998... 1996 FZJ80, 1997 FZJ80
...There were other production coils obviously (seeing as there's so many different color codes) but these 3 time frames stood out to me.

I'm running 8warps with 35's and just had to clearance a little front and rear. I've talked to guys running 37's without much clearancing just mostly on the rear bumper. I love how mine looks and handles. Im running kings up front and am just under 3 inches from stock. Granted I'm a 99 and pretty sure I had tall coils (no proof just parking lot comparisons). good luck.

yeah those are Slee 4 inch coils. My coworker has a FJ80 and is interested in them. I think he wants to find out if Katy has the rear ones too. you may have a buyer for them
