Good deal on Rola roof rack

Just picked one of these up. It's not the Vortex rack, but the basket type. I'm going to try to come up with some custom mounts to get it to sit lower, but overall I'm pretty happy. Particularly with the price.

Rola Roof Top Cargo Basket / Carrier: eBay Motors (item 320539565283 end time Jun-06-10 14:05:57 PDT)

Are you setting up a mud bogg in your backyard or what?

That's the rack I picked up. It works great for me. I built some custom brackets out of uni strut. Brought it down to about an inch above the roof. Turned out great.

That's pretty much exactly how I was envisioning doing it. Where did you get the uni strut?

I'm going to do something similar, but I think I'm going to just bolt mine directly into the channel using some large stove bolts. As long as the head is big enough it should be plenty strong enough and will provide the lowest profile. I'm hoping this helps with the noise, too. Will post end results.

durrell, I tried to get mine as low as possible. If you bolt your rack directly to the roof rails it will hit the roof due to the curved profile. I made mine an inch above the highest point of the roof. It will give a little bit of flexing area when its loaded. Just wanted to let you know before you buy all the parts
