hello from the road! 4500 mi road trip 1/2 way down
hey guys just thought i'd say what's up from the road, i'm in st.gorge,UT and couldn't wait to post up some of the pics i got, we did a fair amount of wheeling in the canyon lands and arches national park/cache valley a few intermediate trails and a few easy ones, we would head out on the 4x4 trail instead of paying for camping in or around the parks, looking at it now i wish i would have gotten some more pics but the whole trip has just been amazing.....
anyways here's some pics of the road trip and some more to come when we head into the grand canyon, vegas, sedona, san deigeo and on up the coast.
i should mention the whole trip is self contained in the 4runner, using the cheesy bed thing i made we have slept comfortably every night and only requires about 3-4 minutes to pack up and get going, we have a foam a few blankets and pillows and to mountaineering packs full of clothes, we keep the bed made as we drive and explore and dress from the packs, it's been very efficient and as said above we have yet to pay for camping saving us around $100 or so and not to mention waking up in some of the most beautiful and remote places around a few days we slept until noon because it was so quite and desolate, these pics don;t do justice to some of places we saw so far.

haha quick on the draw, it's been a blast and the sleeping thing has been great!! honestly we haven't felt the need for a room if not for a shower which after 5 days doing what we were doing is needed, lol
but really i cannot say enough about much that little extra bit of room is gained from removing the seat bottoms and making some platform of some sort,
the only thing that sucked about the trip so far is being so close to Co. and not getting to visit. lol cause to be honest jackson hole and the grand tetons where kind of weak imo, and i've been dying to hang in the rockies for a while, maybe next summer or this winter, lol
another thing is the amount of wheeling there is out in the moab area you could spend a week in the caynonlands alone much less exploring some of the more out of the way places, we camped out some valley road about 1/2 way between green river and moab that was epic, seriously if you like to wheel you gotta get out there, i'm not hard core enough to really be able to go crazy out there

thanks alot guys it's been a blast, if you ever get the chance it's a trip of a life time to just be able to ramble along through the national parks of the west, the runner is great for this it was fun seeing all of the guys in the rental jeeps in moab checking out the 4runner as i crawled by them on some of the 4x4 trails out there and had no problem going for hours on end doing 80 mph with cruise control on. i'm just dying to wash it now, lol i think i must have a whole race of bugs on the front, lol
you guys got any suggestions in arizona besides the obvious sedona and grand canyon? i'm going to be in pheonix for a few days and wondered what's cool around there you know with-in a couple of hundred miles, oh and if any of you guys want to meet up in so cal, let me know let's grab a beer or something!

haha you suck! wish i would have know ahead of time so we could have met up and had you shown me around, i always try my best to avoid the typical tourist places alot and it just seemed all of jackson hole was kind of like that, i totally would like to come back and really see what it's all about.
thanks for the kind offer man and maybe we can make something out of it one day ;-)
cheers all and i'll add some more to the thread as the trip progresses !!!!
i just would also like to say this
America the greatest land on earth, i've been around the world twice and nowhere i have ever been has such a wide range of climates, topographical changes and just sheer beauty all in one place, in the 2000 miles i've done
i truly feel nowhere else on earth could have seen all of the things i have
in such a short span, usually you'd have to fly from one country or even continents to experience the sweeping changes from sea side forest to mountain peaks to rolling plains and into deserts all of epic proportion, i may not always agree with what we do as a country but god dammit we really are America the beautiful

Im not out there yet but ill let you know. Yeah i agree about not going to the touristy areas, alot of times those are the worst places to see things. When I go out there I can for sure show you some of the local spots. There are some good fire roads too.

Awesome trip man. I have to say this is one of the best threads! Great pics! I love when you guys post these great wheeling pictures of Moab, and other places you go! Makes me hate Jersey more and more everyday!!!
BTW does you girl have a sister? Not many chicks would do the stuff you guys did and enjoy every minute of it! hahaha
