The pics don't do it justice, but at the base of that obstacle you stare straight up at the sun and feel like your going to do a 90 deg. flip backwards onto your roof until you feather it and get your front driver side tire over the 1st boulder. Sketchy, but really fun.
EDIT: Oooo, and on a side note I talked to Steve at CBI yesterday and he said the bumper should be done by the end of this month!!

well, a big part of wheelin is the driver... and driver confidence. If someone is scared of a section before they get to it, its over! Im sure you got them in driving skills, you are obviously smarter than them cuz you bought a 4runner and not a Jeep!
and keep us informed on the bumper! cant wait to see it!

Interestingly enough, one of the things i kept thinking about when they we were on Wheeler Ridge was how worried they were about me. I was never worried per say i just didn't think i would make it lol.

i'll drink to that! That's so true about people getting intimidated... if you have doubts before you even begin, it's bound to end up bad. I go out with my neighbor (who has a jeep on 40's, dual locked with axles out of a F-550) and I know he's usually going to try to lead me places where I simply can't go without some damage and I have to be careful to pick and choose wisely (at least as best as a wise ass like me can) .

I can't wit to see that bumper out on the trail
As for getting intimidated, just give it more skinny pedal. LOL
To toy4ever if you come allllll the way down here to run dishpan from Idaho. shout out and will hook you up with several other good trails that are very close to dishpan.

For sure, Dishpan is too short to come all that way for. We'd have to at least run Pilot Rock, Dishpan, and John Bull together. A little birdy also told me that Holcomb Valley might be opening up again this year!!

Took my rear bumper off today in preparation for the CBI coming hopefully by friday (and to be painted and installed maybe by the end of the weekend)!! I'm not sure where I'm going to install it at yet, maybe at my folks' house in Riverside or at Driffter33's if he's not working.. you mentioned a mod party??
If anyone local wants the middle piece of the factory dark grey rear bumper or any of the brackets for free, let me know. I'm not holding them for long, trash comes monday.
Some fugly cellphone shots like usual..
And here's one of the 4runner and the tent while I was camping with friends in Big Bear last weekend..

The campsite is a new one for me! I found a bunch of private single party campsites all around Big Bear just a couple of weeks ago while I was bored and exploring.. and they all have a fire ring and a picnic table (no bathrooms). The best part is, they're totally private and secluded, not too many people know about them, and campfires are legal at them too (I checked with the Ranger station up the street from my house)!
I seriously found like 15 of them ranging from John Bull area almost to Angeles Oaks and I have them marked on a map now.. and they're all really bad ass. There's several more that I know about now and haven't been to yet also!

I ordered up some IPF lights today from Toytec along with some 10mm OME trim packers, thanks Dylan!
I got the trim packers because I like the height mine sits at now and I'm anticipating that the weight of the CBI and spare tire hanging off will push the rear down ~.5". So these should put me right back to about where I'm sitting now.
The lights are pretty sweet too and come with the wiring loom and everything. They also make it easy to wire up so when the switch is pushed, they can automatically come on with your high beams and shut off with your lows.
IPF Light kit - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits
