Replacing injectors. What else while it’s apart?

2002 sR5. Taking truck to mechanic to do injectors. Midwest is $350 for the set, any other options?

What else should I have him do while he’s in there? Valve gasket? I’d appreciate part numbers too if available, just to make sure I get the right stuff. Thanks!

Yes, this would be a good time to knock out your valve cover gaskets, spark plug tube seals, etc. etc. If you type into T4R or Google you'll find a ton of info on the job. Timmy the Toolman is an excellent resource to refer to all 3rd gen related things.
@mtbtim might also have some input on injectors. There was a company I think he used but it wasn't that one. I can't recall. Hopefully he can chime in.

Don't forget crush washers for the fuel rails. You'll need 3 of them
If you have copper ones installed, technically you can sand them flat and anneal them with a torch to reuse them (I've done it with my fuel rails temporarily and have done it to numerous diesel engines) but new aluminum ones from Toyota would be best. It's not good to mate copper to aluminum for long periods, it induces galvanic corrosion
Valve cover gaskets would be ideal too because they require removing the intake plenum as well, so you really might as well swap them if they're leaking

Might be worth looking at the condition of the plastic that covers your wiring up in there. They are all pretty brittle by this point in a 3rd gens life. Mine looked good when I did my injectors but pretty much disintegrated as soon as I tried to move it. I covered it all with wire loom and then wrapped it with Tesa Tape (don't use anything else IMO). You will need 3/4 inch loom. I couldn't find any in town and thought the 1/2 inch looked like it would do, but it did not fully cover. Fortunately, enough length came in the package to do 2 layers placed in opposite directions but was kind of a pain. There is a good write up somewhere on the net with pics but I don't remember what forum. I'll see if I can find it.

Valve cover gasket - 3.4 v6 Damaged wiring harness solution | Tacoma World

I think this is the one I used. There is also a decent one on here.

I can't say that's the correct connector...but here's a source for that part number.

90980-11153 Genuine Toyota Housing, Connector F)

Edit: Another source that seems to be aftermarket but most likely the original supplier for the OEM part that states it's for denso injectors.

Home >> Shop >> Injector connectors >> Sumitomo 2 Way TS Plug Housing for Denso Injectors, (Toyota # 90980-11153)

Thanks - I appreciate that. I was at a yard today and there were more fairly complete 4Runners than usual and I could have eyeball-tested a handful of those to see if they were still viable. People had pulled the plenums for the injectors but there were a lot of those. I ended up grabbing an igniter for a spare and a black SR5 steering wheel/bag/column surround because my tan Limited leather wheel has had it. I don't mind mix-n-match colors.
