!#$@! Thieves

Ok just had to rant..go to SFO airport to pickup my Wife's sister and two of her friends .Load everyone into the Runner and stop off at Pier 39 to do the tourist thing on the way home.Park in a nice garage, middle of the day and go to lunch.I had to go back and get something out of the Runner, gone about 20 minutes....and some low life had smashed out the rear window and grabbed the luggage. To say I was pissed is an understatement.
Nope didn't have a tonneau cover as mine has been missing and have been looking around for one.Might have helped if it was there.Moral of the story use your tonneau cover!
At least I get to buy something new for the Runner but would have wanted something cooler than replacing my glass
Just had to rant about it

Yeah the only thing they got was a bunch of women's clothing,at least no one lost anything valuable.
Would have really liked to caught them and pull their stomach out through their face though

THAT SUCKS.

I've thought about using the tonneau cover, but the rear glass is dark enough that I didn't think the cover made much difference. If you have the cover pulled, they probably think you're hiding something valuable anyway.

I have my stock cargo cover that I do not use any more. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Bummer about the theft. Its been getting worse and worse lately as people get more and more desperate.

Thanks -
Yeah I agree with the economy so bad people are getting more desperate and I have seen car break-ins around my area getting more frequent.Just this morning here at work a Toyota left overnight on the street had it's window smashed out as well.

Sorry to know. Let me guess no security cams! It will take a wile to get past feeling violated. Sucks to have to think about it but the scum like this really put some stink in the world!
Sadly this reminds me about the snatch & grab that cost me 300+ in cd's a spare key= loss of a days pay+ a new ignition and lock cylinders. Normally my MINT 2Gen 2door was in the garage or locked up when in the driveway. My six year old left a door ajar and wouldn't you know it the scumbags happened to be in my neighborhood that night. I got really lucky no broken glass and they could have stole my truck! Add insult to injury broke a toe following the trail of my #%$*&^! broken cd's glad they didn't wake me I would have lost my mind

I had my back window smashed 2 years ago.....guess what they took........NOTHING! Just some kid trying to be a bad ass! I work in Retail Security, spotted the kid, showing his friends the glass on the ground, a day later! The cool thing about it, I ended up busting the kid for Shoplifting a week later! My favorite saying that I use alot: "Every Dog Has His Day". If I don't get you the first time, I'll get you later! Little shit, was the product of 2 drug addicted parents, too busy to take care of him, and allowed him to be out later than he should have been. I'd like to take the father out back near the tracks, and beat the dude down! Poor kid doesn't have a chance, with parents like that!

That sucks man...does your runner have an alarm of any kind?

Lots of car vandalism and thefts in my area too. Just a few years ago, this kinds of stuff was pretty much unheard of. Hopefully the $300 I invested in an aftermarket alarm will pay off someday.

No at the moment I don't have an alarm but this is a pretty good incentive to get one
Hope you don't have to find out how well your alarm works. On a side note I used to live on The Big Island in Hilo,my Dad is still there.Always great going back there !

Just get a little red led to put in or on the dash, people will think you have an alarm and be more hesitant to break in. In high school we put one in my friends mustang, he had been parked next to 3 different vehicles that got broke into over 2 years and no one touched his car. I have one in my runner and thank god haven't had a break in. My neighbors car got broke into last week 4 parking spaces down from where I park. I H8 Thieves!!!

Guess she'll be getting to go shopping which should make her feel a little better.

Majority of factory alarms don't do a thing on window breakage...
