Code P0770-Shift Solenoid E-Please help!!

Ok well I took a couple of trips in my 2001 sport 4x4 this past week. The first trip was from Uniontown PA to Erie PA. On the way back from Erie the next day my engine light came on but the runner was running completley fine. So I looked up a autozone and went there to have em check it and it came up with the Code- P0770-Shift Solenoid E. The guy there said I should have it looked at immediatley!

Well I had plans for the next day to go to Chareston WV to do some camping with a buddy there. So when I got home I figured I would try and clear it myself by disconnecting the battery and it cleared it!! So I rode around town that evening to see if it would come back on for about an hr. or so. It never did! So I figured I would make the trip. The Runner is shifting normal like the day I bought it which was about 6 mos. ago and it only has 62K on it but when i did the carfax on it it said the PO had the tranny rebuilt by AMMCO. back in 2008. I bought it at a private dealer and they had no clue..

Well anyways I made the trip to Charelston WV with a buddy of mine. It was really hot out probably about 95 degrees or so. About 50mi. into the trip sure enough the light came back on but was shifting completley fine. So I said the heck with it im gonna continue with the trip. I made it down there and rode around for a couple more hrs. and the truck was running like a champ but that light was still on. Then the next day b4 we left the campground I figured I would try to clear that light 1 last time. Well half way back to charelston it came back on again but still running great!! Then we left to come back home which takes about 3 hrs. and made it home with no problems and still running and shifting great!!

I did look up the code on here and saw a couple of posts but none of them really said what would happen if you keep running it like this. It is shifting like normal and the tranny fluid looks and smells good!!

Does anyone out there know what would eventually happen if I would let this go? Is my tranny gonna eventually go out completely or what? A couple of guys said to try a tranny flush and that might fix the problem. I have only had the truck for 6 mos. and I have never done anything to it other than change the oil in it. Since I know the tranny has been overhauled in the past this really worrys me. Should I be worried about this?? It is not my primary vehicle so it only gets used on my off days, but I do like to take trips every now and then!

Sorry for this long message but love this forum and I love the Runner. I have gotten help on these forums b4 and I dont wanna get mislead by a dealer and I didnt know where else to turn to so any help would be greatly appreciated! But my main question is what is gonna happen to the tranny if I keep running it like this?? I put Approx. 800mi. on in the last few days with this light on and it does'nt seem to be getting any worse. So I dunno..

Thanks in advance Eric

I had 2 of my 3 shift solenoids go bad about a few months ago, and it was BAD accelerating from 1st to 2nd was horrible but once it hit 3rd it was fine. All in all I had my brother do the work cost about 700+ for parts from the dealer it was pretty easy for my bro to do the job.
