Insurance Rates?

I have my 96 SR5 insured through Farmers. It's costing me $138/month for full coverage w/ a $1000 deductible. For a rig I payed $10k for, this seems high. By the way, I am 34, single, with 2 tickets in the last 3 years.

Does this sound about right or am I paying too much?

I am paying less than $500/6 months each for my '98 Camry and my '04 4Runner with a $300 deductible and I live in Los Angeles County, CA where rates tend to be high but I am older, married and neither me or my wife have any traffic tickets on our record.

It never hurts to shop around. I have had 21st Century for a number of years and I have been happy with them. I had a Dodge totaled by a carburator/engine fire and they paid high Blue Book for the vehicle. A Camry I had was in an accident and they had it repaired at a Toyota dealer.

Yeah that is definitely high. I pay $120 a month for my 2004 Sport and I'm 24, male, single and I've had 3 tickets in the last year. That is for full coverage with a $250 deductible. I've been thinking of increasing the deductible to $500 to see if it is worth my money. I do also have my house insured so I get a deduction for that and multicar. I'm with State Farm btw.

Maybe you should see what other insuarance carriers will give you....

rates

I just bought a 97 4R in Oct. I priced insurance rates in Ohio most places wanted $1200. to $1400. every 6 months. I found Geico and insured the vehicle for $106. Month or 550. every 6 months. This is full coverage with a $500. deductable. I found out that insurance his high on this vehicle due to it being expensive to repair body damage and the price of 4Rs new. Has a high insurance rating. keep in mind I am 22 years old with no accidents or traffic tickets. Hope this helps, you will love your new 4Runner!

it does sound a little high. i pay $190 a month for both my fiance and i for 2 cars including the 03 4runner with a $500 deductible and $500,000 per person/accident(this is the minimum recommended if you own property). i use AIG. i'm 33, single(for a few more months!) male with no tickets in the last 7 years. having multiple cars on one policy gives you a huge discount. also an umbrella insurance (house, car, life, etc..) is probably the best deal you can get price wise. i believe Farmer's Insurance has this. time to shop around!

I was quoted $298 every 6 months on my 97' 4 Runner, but it looks like it is going to be $470 now every 6 months. My agent said he didnt put it in as 4 wheel drive at first. Does this sound right that much of a jump just for having 4 wheel drive? I know it is still fairly low, but his quote ended up being 50% more than what it was quoted at first by him.

your agent probably haven't seen a 4Runner in his life
$470 is ok. But if you are older than 30yrs, no ticket. It should be lower.

I paid 350/6 months - 31 yrs/M/Single/1 wreckless driving ticket last year. I'm with geico.

I got it down to $417 today after talking with my agent. I am 25, single and have a perfect driving record. Does this sound like what I should be paying? It just came as a surprise to me because I was quoted lower, and then it came back higher.

That's about the right price. I'm 27 w/perfect record. I pay $400/6months/$500ded w/Mercury thru AIS. I was w/21st which is higher, but they have perks that other ins co don't have. I may try them again in the future.

I'm 37 and due to previous bad driving (14 speeding tixs from '93-'02,lost license twice,NO accidents) I have to carry an SR22 (which will be gone in 7 months) so full coverage,250 deductables I'm paying $105/month with Farmers.

My 2 cents...
$636 per year.
Indiana insurance.
$500/1000 deductible
43 yrs old, no accidents or tickets in a while
Multi-car and homeowner policy discount.

Looks like mine will be around $430 every 6 months, Im 25 single and have just my 4runner and a home policy. Not sure what else I can do to get the price down. Talked to my agent, he messed up on putting it in there as a 2 wheel drive only, thus the reason it is $130 higher.
