Middle console piece by auto tranny shifter?
Edit:
SOLVED
There are two different pieces from 4WD and 2WD consoles.
Name: Cover, Shift Lock
4WD Part #33554-35050 ~ $9.50 from Dealership
2WD Part #33554-35020 ~ $1.50 from Dealership
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Original Post:
I have looked at the only 3 salvaged 97's in my area and they are all missing this part. What is it and anyone have a part number I could take to a dealership for a quote? I hate to buy it brand new cause i bet a sal yard would probably give me the piece for free....its so inconsequential and small.
thanks

That's the shift lock button. When pressed, it will allow you to shift without pushing the brake pedal down. It's such a small part, maybe try calling some out of state yards and have them send it to you.

I just noticed on my trip to meet WabFab owner Brian Drawhorn to buy some tires today that mine was missing too.

Did you also know that the leather cover for the 4WD shifter is supposed to be under the plastic cover? If you remove the cover, the leather "boot" fits in a groove under the plastic. Mine was the same way when I bought it. I noticed it when I replaced the light bulb under the PRNDL shifter.

I'm missing it too--there must be little gnomes that come around at night to steal those things

Heh...must be an epidemic. I will have to give a shout to some yards around. Think this piece is orderable from the dealership by itself or would it have to come with the console?

ya know, that has bugged me since i got this thing. I figured there was something out of place, but i also thought that a previous owner could have broke a piece. I will have to slide that back into position when i go to pull all the wiring that a previous owner ran for an aftermarket stereo. Very pour craftsman ship on his part. the wires were really just thrown in with some really crappy speakers.

It is sold by itself. I google searched the part number provided by CFRANCK and saw prices $1.02-$1.89.

Went to the dealer today and ordered 3 for $1.10 each after my discount. I figured it would get lost again.
