Decided to do a bedliner
So I have been thinking that I wanted to put some bedliner inside my runner for a while now. The other day I just decided to go ahead and try it out, I figured if it didn't work out then I could just put the carpet back in and nobody would know. I think it really turned out well. What do you all think?

Smell is gone after it drys.
I did it because carpet is and was nasty and now I could just spray it out. And I did.

Pretty tough. Hard to say. After about 8 months mine looked great. Only thing is say if you get mud on it and you dont get it all out it will show, HIGH traffic areas may loose their shine. Stuff IS SUPER GRIPPY. I did the ENTIRE floor in mine.
HEY LARRY IS THAT FOOT PRINTS?

I used the Herculiner, and I bought the gallon kit for $100 bucks or so at Auto Zone. I decided to do it because my friend had his jeep line-x'ed and I really liked it, however he paid $500 to have that done. I was wanting to get the weather tech mats but they would have been $400 bucks too. So I decided that I would give it a shot for $100 bucks and if it didn't work out I would put the carpet back in. Plus I wanted something that I could put muddy stuff in after hiking and hunting and just wash out, especially since there are 4 drain plugs in the back and one in each footwell. If you decide to do it just be aware that the pad they give you in the kit is not good at all for roughing up the surface, I actually just used sandpaper. It does smell when you first do it but it goes away after a week or so. Also, the Herculiner looks almost wet at first but after a while and after use can dull a bit, it is super gritty and grippy though. Overall, I really like it and I think it will hold up well for what I intend to use it for. I actually did the whole runner front to back and I can post pictures of the front once I get some better pictures, (by the time I got to that part it was dark out). I can post more pictures of the progress as well if anyone is interested in how to do it.

If you are talking about the markings in the back then yes, they are footprints. Just dust from my shoes that got on the liner once it was dry. It cleans right off, but is one of the downsides of the bedliner. It can look dirty easily because its black and glossy when its first done. Actually, after I got it done I put the mat back in for now. I can just take it right out if I plan on putting anything muddy in the back.

if i read this right, you are saying that putting this liner in will increase the noise from outside? i would think the opposite would be the outcome.

Yes road noise is increased. Carpet AND the sound insulation below it absorb more sound than the hurculinerm for sure. And you are most lily going to remove the sound deadener. Also this stuff it actually pretty hard, and we all know softer more flexible materials absorb sound.

well here is what i think i will do. i am going to get me some rubber undercoating, pull out the carpetand matting, spray it down, let it dry and put it all back with the carpet and pad. either way, this is still a great idea that Larry has come up with and gets 2 thumbs up from me!

Yea I plan on doing something similar to what you have done with yours. I didn't want to do that at first in case it didn't turn out well I could put the carpet back in and you would never know. Now that I know how it looks I am going to do the backs of the seats too. What material did you use? Did you just pull the carpet off and apply bedliner to the board on the backs of the seats, or did you use some other type of board?
