Headroom???

Of the 4 seat styles in the 3rd gen 4runner, which one affords the most headroom?

Power leather

Manual leather

Manual Sport cloth with the 'wings'

Manual standard cloth

My leather power ones (limited) are shot and I want to put in something with more headroom

You forgot the most important option for headroom: no sunroof.

The cloth SR5 Sport bucket seats allow the bottom seat cushion to be lowered. Not sure if the powered versions have that or not.

All fairly similar from my experience. The sport seats may feel a little lower, but are the least comfortable. The sunroof does indeed make the biggest difference.

Yes, it does have the sunroof... I am just looking for more overall room. Perhaps the sport is the lowest and how about for going back (legroom) ? I sort of think the power ones have the mechanism under there and might be a tad higher?
Thanks..

Do the leather power ones have a way to rotate the lower cushion? I never owned one so don't know. If it doesn't, then yes the SR5 Sport seats will give you about 1"-1.5" more headroom.

'00 Limited with power leather can move the bottom cushion up and down.

Edit: even with the seat bottom lowered all the way, there's still lots of space under the seat. I have an amp under mine. The brackets could potentially be modified and lowered.

Of the 2 cloth varieties, which ones seem to be the most comfortable? Standard or Sport?

It's a very subjective opinion. I'm 6'2" and around 175, so tall and thin. I find the Sport seats to be very comfortable and ergonomic but many others find the bottom cushions to not be comfortable and have leg pain with them. The standard seats tend to fit people with a heavier complexion more comfortably.

Maybe take a trip to a pick n pull and sit in some of the seats and try them out?

My cloth seated 97 had noticeably more headroom than my 99 with power leather. Both have sunroofs.
I'm 6'4" and in the leather my head hits the sunroof "edge" quite a bit if I sit upright/don't slouch a bit in the seat. That is with the seat base adjustment all the way down and back. Seat back is set pretty typical-not straight up and down but not leaned back low rider style either.
I have a huge amp under the seat that fits no problem. The same amp was a tighter fit vertically in the 97.

Edit to add info: The 97 cloth seats were much more broken down than the 99 leather ones, so some of it may also be the seat foam letting me "sick in" farther with the cloth 97's.

Lefty JD, those cloth seats out of your '97 were they the standard cloth seats or the sport cloth seats with the lateral wings that hold you in place more?

I believe they were the sport seats? They had a dial/knob you could rotate to adjust the lumbar section in and out if that helps ID which seat version.
