Help, engine loses power intermittently

Hello, I drive a 2002 4runner SR5 4WD...about 138,000 miles

Lately, I have noticed I will be driving down the road and suddenly the engine will lose power; the RPMs will drop by 500, then go back up, then drop again and go back up.
I have tried turning off the A/C but it still happens. It happens at low speeds and high speeds (35 MPH or 70 MPH).

I have owned the car since 93,000 miles, and have not changed the fuel filter or fuel pump...really only done the timing belt, oil, tires, etc.

Any thoughts?

Anyone with similar experience?

Might be the torque converter is locking in an out of O/D.
Try driving around with it out of O/D to see if it still does it.

Clean throttle body.

Someone else might have other ideas on here.

I was thinking tranny too. See if it does it with O/D off like cfranck1 said and also in 2 and L.

I think it does it with the O/D off, but I'm not sure. I'll try that and get back.
