SecuriKey+ Programming

I had a hell of a time finding this, and when I did it was always formatted horibly to the point it was tough to read. So I am reposting it with better formatting. Originally found here but I don't know if this was the original source.

================================================== =======

PROGRAMMING ADDITIONAL or REPLACEMENT TRANSMITTERS

Each SECURIKEY+ system can be operated by up to four (4) different SECURIKEY+ transmitters. The system is supplied from the factory with two (2) transmitters included, and additional transmitters are available through parts distribution. Any new or replacement transmitters will need to be programmed to the main control module before they will activate the system. The SECURIKEY+ main control module uses a six (6) channel radio frequency receiver; each channel controlling a different function of the SECURIKEY+ system. Each transmitter button can be programmed to only one of the receiver channels (e.g., the GREEN button cannot be programmed to operate the headlight feature and remote start option; it can operate only one or the other feature). The following is a list of each receiver channel, and the function of each channel.

CHANNEL # | FEATURE CONTROLLED BY THIS CHANNEL
  • 1 | Lock
  • 2 | Unlock
  • 3 | Trunk Release (optional kit required; not available on all models)
  • 4 | 30 second headlight activation (only if required by GREEN button)
  • 5 | Remote panic (only if required by GREEN button instead of LOCK button)
  • 6 | Remote start (optional kit required; not available on all models)
To program new or additional transmitters, or when adding options to existing SECURIKEY+ transmitters, follow the step by step programming instructions found below. When programming, it is important to complete each step of the procedure within 15 seconds, or the system will terminate the programming mode. If this happens, simply start again.

Be sure that the SECURIKEY+ system is disarmed, and the lighted valet switch is in the off (out) position before you begin. Turn the vehicle's ignition key to the on position. Press then release the L.E.D. valet switch 6 times.

CHANNEL 1: LOCK & Panic Feature Horn Chirps 1 Time L.E.D. Flashes 1 Time
To program the LOCK button on the transmitter, press and hold the LOCK button until the vehicle's horn sounds one loud chirp. Repeat this for all transmitters that need the LOCK button programmed (up to four transmitters). After the LOCK button on all transmitters have been programmed, press and release the L.E.D. valet switch 2 times to advance to the next receiver channel.

CHANNEL 2: UNLOCK Feature Horn Chirps 2 Times L.E.D. Flashes 2 Times
To program the UNLOCK button on the transmitter, press and hold the UNLOCK button until the vehicle's horn sounds one loud chirp. Repeat this for all transmitters that need the UNLOCK button programmed (up to four transmitters). After the UNLOCK button on all transmitters have been programmed, press
and release the L.E.D. valet switch 2 times to advance to the next receiver channel.

CHANNEL 3: TRUNK RELEASE Option Horn Chirps 3 Times L.E.D. Flashes 3 Times
To program the TRUNK RELEASE option on the transmitter, press and hold the GREEN option button until the vehicle's horn sounds one loud chirp. Repeat this for all transmitters that need the GREEN option button programmed (up to four transmitters). After the TRUNK RELEASE button on all transmitters have been programmed, press and release the L.E.D. valet switch 2 times to advance to the next receiver channel.

CHANNEL 4: 30 SECOND HEADLIGHT Feature Horn Chirps 4 Times L.E.D. Flashes 4 Times
To program the HEADLIGHT option on the transmitter, press and hold the GREEN option button until the vehicle's horn sounds one loud chirp. Repeat this for all transmitters that need the GREEN option button programmed (up to four transmitters). After the HEADLIGHT button on all transmitters have been programmed, press and release the L.E.D. valet switch 2 times to advance to the next receiver channel.

CHANNEL 5: Separate PANIC Button Feature Horn Chirps 5 Times L.E.D. Flashes 5 Times
To program the PANIC option on the transmitter, press and hold the GREEN option button until the vehicle's horn sounds one loud chirp. Repeat this for all transmitters that need the GREEN option button programmed (up to four transmitters). After the PANIC button on all transmitters have been programmed, press and release the L.E.D. valet switch 2 times to advance to the next receiver channel.

CHANNEL 6: REMOTE START Feature Horn Chirps 6 Times L.E.D. Flashes 6 Times
To program the REMOTE START option on the transmitter, press and hold the GREEN option button until the vehicle's horn sounds one loud chirp. Repeat this for all transmitters that need the GREEN option button programmed (up to four transmitters). After the REMOTE START button on all transmitters have been programmed, press and release the L.E.D. valet switch 2 times to advance to terminate programming mode, or simply turn the ignition key to the off position to terminate the transmitter programming mode.

================================================== =======

PROGRAMMING THE SELECTABLE FEATURES

The SECURIKEY+ system offers a number of selectable features that can be changed, allowing you to custom fit the system to your customer. The following is a list of the features that are selectable and can be changed using the valet switch and any transmitter that is programmed to the system installed in the vehicle.

FEATURE # FUNCTION 1 CHIRP 2 CHIRPS

Please help...

Can someone explain how to do this?... my 4runner didn't come with a key fob so I went by the dealer to buy one. I have the little red light on the left of my steering wheel so I know it's a SecuruKey factory alarm.

I've tried many times to program it, but I still can't get it to work.
I turn the key to on, and then push the red light in and out 3 times and the 4runner honks to start the program process but when I hold down the lock button to program I never hear it honk to set the program, I pull the key out and it honks and chirps once to terminate the process. I've tried different things but it never works.

Can someone please help me out here?

Silly question but does your new fob have a battery in it? I asked about a new fob the other day at the d-ship and they said it would be an additional $100 to ping the ecu with the new fob and/or program it. Im not sure if the proccess above will work for an brand new fob or if a fob has to be "keyed" to an individual ecu before it can be programed. Post your findings Oskie, I'll be following in your footsteps sooner than later I hope.

Yeah, it has a battery. The key fob also has a red light that blinks everytime I push on it, plus for some reason everytime I push the green button the headlights turn on.

I'll post a pic of the key fob tomorrow.

Three Chirps and I'm Out

When trying to remote start using my SECURIKEY+5 key fob, I get 3 chirps but no start. All the other feature works (lock, unlock, back window), and even the remote start worked before this problem began 1 month ago. What am I doing wrong? Reprograming perhaps? Thanks.

(ksroqclimber) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

Your post just saved me money and headaches! I had spent hours and many attempts with different methods to program my alarm system and only yours worked. One point is on my system there is a toggle switch under the dash which (I believe) toggles the Remote Start feature. This switch needed to be in the ON position in order to program the LOCK button on the remote in my 2002 4Runner. With my toggle in the OFF position pushing the LOCK button on the remote produced no chirp in the correct programming mode. But as soon as I switched this toggle to ON I got my confirmation LOCK chirp. I will probably make a youtube video with your fix and also upload a doc. file to my website as a backup. Of course I will give you FULL credit for finding and posting this fix.

:o)
