Stock is 4.10 or 4.30 depending on year and elocker. So going to a 4.56 wouldn't be worth the price tag. My vote would be for 4.88 or 5.29

Oh yeah sorry it would be a 2001 with a 3.4 and I believe a340 and no locker. Will be using an arb or zip in the rear. The stock tire on the tag is a 225.

Sounds like my stock tire size... You're prob geared at 3.9 right now. I'd vote 4.88's.

I have 265/75r16 right now and it seems sluggish as compared to where it should be so I am upping to a better ratio. So what would the adverse side of going 5.29 be?

If I'm not mistaken...2001 without a locker, you should have 4:10's from the factory. I'm in the same boat...I have 4:10's and I just put on a set of 33's. I'm been trying to decide what gears to go with also. At 65 mph, I'm only turning 2000-2050 rpm's. I'm thinking 4:88's will be good. I don't to low cause this is my DD too. I'm trying to find one of those charts that shows you which gears to run with what tires and at what rpm's. If I find it, I'll try and post it for you...

I am right about at 2100 at 65 so that would make sense. I will probably go with 4.88. And that would be awesome and definitely helpful.

Anyone heard anything about zip lockers?

Hi, actually im doing the same. I have already decided for 4.88 by suggestion from trail-gear.com but im afraid of get the wrong parts (10000 km shipping), for the front diff overall.

I have 1KZ-TE engine, don´t know about transmission.

A friend told me the original gear its 4.1 for sure.

Can you help me?

Ok so 86 through 95 the front uses a 7.5" standard rotation. 95 and up used a reverse rotation. Here is the like to yours http://www.ringpinion.com/b2c/Produc...nd_Pinion_Sets

And as far as the rear goes main thing is if it has a rear oem locker or not but for the most part it is a 8" and you'll end up with something like this.

Hope that helps

Thanks a lot, its a 1998 4runner, here in Argentina also called SW4 and the most popular engine was the 3.0 Tdi. Rear Diff its ARB and in the front sure it´s the 7.5" you told me. So i expect dont make a mistake, there shouldnt be such differents from yours.

Thanks for the links.
